Anyone remember the second season episode where there was a plumbing problem at Betty and Barney's cave and they ended up spending the week with Fred and Wilma? Fred and Barney tried to keep from fighting but by the last day when Barney ate a whole pizza, Fred proceeded to beat up Barney and then Wilma and Betty started fighting.

one thing about the ep that was kind of weird was the part where fred gets woke up by the ringing of the alarm clock and fred asks barney if he set the alarm and barney says sure i have to get up at 5;00 and fred replies that he dosent have to get up till 8;;00 the reason that its weird is that in every other ep you see fred and barney taking turns driving each other to work but in this ep for some reason barney has to leave the house for work 3 hours before fred does

..."The House Guest" {December 22, 1961}, written by Syd Zelinka, who co-wrote several of Jackie Gleason's "HONEYMOONERS" scripts in the mid-'50s with Leonard Stern. A similar plot was later used in "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW" episode "The Boarder Incident" {February 14, 1962} [on Rob's suggestion, Buddy spends several days at Rob & Laura's house while his wife is away, quickly wearing out his welcome]. The situation where Fred and Barney's working hours are slightly different (with Barney setting his alarm earlier, annoying Fred) was utilized for this episode only [perhaps Barney's boss insisted he arrive at work earlier than usual for a "temporary" period, although this isn't spelled out].

This is the ONLY time I ever remember Betty and Wilma fighting.

Except when the lodge has a beautiful baby contest.

Fred and Barney never come to blows in that episode. They're about to, over the pizza, but all they do is dance around without throwing any punches . . . then before they have the chance to do so, they hear Betty and Wilma fight, and Barney quickly sees the irony and starts to laugh. Thus begins the reconciliation. :)
