I tried to get into the Division. Back in the first season,I missed a lot of episodes of the Facts of Life to try to see what the Division could offer. I even asked fans of the Division why they liked it.

I hate guns. The foul language is disgusting. And Nancy's character is a bad influence on young girls.
The rest of the women are very angry people.

I could never get into it. I never will. But I like to watch the fans go crazy over it.

I'd never even heard of 'The Division' 'till I came on here and heard everyone raving about it. I decided to watch it to see what all the fuss is about. I gotta say, I thought it sucked. I turned it off halfway through. It was so cliched.

I totally am not gettin mad @ sitcomsnow! Thats a first for me!

I think he has a right to his opinion. I only know one, maybe 2, people that like it besides me. Sometimes I think they don't watch it just because I do. :cough:MeatballSub:cough:

IMO........I LOVE The Division. When I saw the first eppy I started crackin up! I thought it was funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahaha! Now I still love it.

I can't stand "The Divison" either, though it's not really my 'type' of drama, IE I like "Hart to Hart", "Charlie's Angels", "The Love Boat", "Starsky & Hutch", etc. (And I Think S&H is the best cop drama, but thats just my Opinion. Go David Soul and Paul Michael Glasner!)

Sorry. I had to say that.

Yeah, I've seen her on both. Though I thought she had a better guest starring role on "The Love Boat" (BTW, Charlotte Rae was on 'Boat' too)

I just saw S&H today for the first time and it was kinda funny. But my vote for best police drama goes to Adam-12. Go Martin Milner and Kent McCord! ;)

As for The Division, never seen it and probably won't. I don't like Lifetime.

Ok, this might get along and then again it might not cause I'm tired and have school in the morning...ugh!
Anyway, to stay on track...

I understand that alot of people don't like "The Division" and alot of people do. I must admit that I never would have even come upon the show if it was not for FOL and NMK. I've been watching it since day one and the episodes gradually get better and better. The first episode bit the dust, IMO, but the last episode rocked.

As for those who dislike drama, I understand where you're coming from. Drama can be depressing, but I enjoy it. I must admit, comedy is probably a bit better in my book though. Today's comedies bite though...yet that is an entire different story in itself.

As for what Max said, I must agree. Jinny Exstead is a bad influence on girls. When I watch TD I have to catch myself and remind myself, I do not need to be looking up to Jinny and admiring what she does, it is NMK that I am watching and her acting that I am admiring. TD all in all is not the best influence on anybody, although for some reason I thoroughly enjoy the show.
The cussing though is mild compared to many dramas on TV today. The fact is, there is hardly any show on TV today that does not present some character with a bad image to the public.

Anyway, TD may not be the best drama out there and people watch it for different reasons. I started watching because of NMK. The episode that had little Jinny I found boring. Towards the end of the first season I didn't mind watching an episode with little Jinny in it because the characters had been built up and the storylines actually got better. For those of you who did not give TD a chance until at least the last three-fourths of the season, watch the season premiere-I think you'll see a drastic improvement. Remember, critics dissed FOL along with many other shows, only to have that show be a hit...

WOW, that got kind of long. Sorry, I'm just long winded tonight I guess... Sitcomsnow, I TOTALLY respect your opinion because there are many shows out there today that everyone loves and that I just find incredibly boring or ridiculous. I think it is cool that you gave TD a chance!

...I'm heading back to my hole now because I feel like this post got way too long and that some of it might have been unnecessary. Sorry!

I'm not really a fan of The Division either, or anything on Lifetime. It just doesn't interest me.

I loved that short-lived sitcom that Nancy McKeon was on a few years ago. I think it was called "You Can't Hurry Love" or something like that. Does anyone else remember it, or am I imagining TV shows.

Ok, how many shows ARE good influences on "younge girls"???? NOT MANY! BUT.....everyone knows there are people around like Jinny, and probably just about everyone actually knows someone like that.....AND as for the language. You can't go anywhere without hearing swearing. Soooooooo..........until the WHOLE ENTIRE world stops sleeping around, swearing, etc(which in IMO will never happen..)....There's no point in taking it out of shows. Just about everyone sees and hears worse everyday.

The name of the sitcom was, "Can't Hurry Love" and it was aired in '95. I never watched it, because for one thing, I was only 9 years old, and I wasn't obsessed then. Anyway, I bet it was great. :D

I don't really like it either...but I don't like cop shows in general. I just can't watch drama...I mean I can watch a soap, but I really enjoy comedies....I just can't sit down for an hour a week to watch a show....I just get sick of the characters after a while...but you see on a soap, you see a character for like 4 minutes out of the hour, you can't really get annoyed @ them?! does anyone understand me?!

I started watching The Division because of Bonnie Bedelia. Nancy McKeon is like my 2nd fave actress on the show. If Nancy left I'd still watch the show. Now...if Bonnie left...-ahem- I dont know what I'd do. She just brings so much to the show...and I dunno if I can handle a replacement....

No. Well prolly not cuz I started watching it because she was in it and Jinny is my fave so... um porlly not.

Someone posted earlier that Jinny was a bad influence, and I agreed, but now, I think that she's a good one. You know, admitting she has a problem and wants to get better and TRYING to straighten out her life I think that she is a good role model, kind of! But that all kind of depends on tonights episode, if she drinks or not. I'll be mad if she does!!

And yeah, I would watch it. I only started liking Nancy at the beginning of the school year last year when FOL was on Nick@Nite. Then TD started getting advertised and I was hooked! lol. I like Lisa Vidal and Tracey Needham, so I would still watch it.

IMHO the best cop drama (and I mean where they have badges) is the 80s cop drama called "Cagney & Lacey".A lot of people see it as the middle sister. The oldest is "Police Woman" the youngest is "The Division" and in the middle is Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly as Christine Cagney and Mary Beth Lacey.I used to watch that show everyday in the summer of '00.Everyday at 3:00pm central time. Then Dallas came on then came the hour of "Alice".

I know I've probably said this before but I am just astounded at how popular 'The Division' appears to be in your country!
Usually shows that are really popular in America get big exposure over here and, as a result, become pretty popular here too (examples of this include 'Ally McBeal', 'Friends', 'Dawsons Creek'....the list goes on.....) but 'The Division' hasn't taken off over here at all.
The only channel it's shown on is Living TV which is only available to Digital Satalite subscibers. Living TV is a crap channel that's only watched by middle-aged housewives with nothing better to do. 'The Division' isn't even one of Living TV's highest rated shows - not even close!!!!!!!
I've watched it on a couple of occasions and I fail to see what's so good about it. It seems incredibly formulaic and tedious. I also fail to see the big attraction with Nancy McKeon. She's not the amazing actress that you all claim her to be and she is definately not the best looking woman on the planet either.
I dunno - it just amazes me at how popular the show is. It's certainly nothing speacial as far as I'm concerned. I'd bet that about 70% of the British public have never even heard of it and even less actually bother to watch it!

Nancy's all grown up, she's trying to get away from her child image. She's not Jo anymore.

The Division is the best show in the entire universe and all the other ones. I really enjoy watching it, not just cuz Nancy's in it. But it's great. I love dramas so it's my thing. I have nothing against ppl who don't like the show but when they start seriously bagging on it, it's just not necessary.

I agree, Jinny was not a great role model, but she's gotten her life together, which shows u know. That like if someone was like an obsessive drinker, u can turn ur life around.

I did start watching because of Nancy. But if the rest of the cast were in it and it had the same material and all, i would still watch, it's on lifetime, i watch like practically everything on there. But I don't think I'd be as obsessed with it if Nancy were not in it.

Hey, I don't like "The Division" either, so don't take this post personally.

On the Jinny being a role model or not- To me, in the one episode I watched, Jinny, is very unlikable. Yeah, she's getting help for her problems, blah, blah. But still, she's not very charming.

Not the way I want to see the law. Its like with Boston Public and its stupid portrayal of education and schools. I guess that's why I like shows like Star Trek, Murder she Wrote and Columbo and the other ones where the good guys REALLY ARE good guys.
