After a thorough search for Mary Alice Young's successor, "Desperate Housewives" has cast Emily Bergl to play the role of reformed menace Paul Young's new wife, Beth, who will prove instrumental in Paul's post-jail plans on Wisteria Lane.


"I thought she was just great in the scene we read together," Mark Moses (Paul) told me at AMC's "Mad Men" season premiere (Mark also recurs on "Mad Men" as Duck Phillips).

"We're both from the Midwest, and she brings so many great qualities to the role—vulnerability, insecurity and a certain strength. There are a lot of conflicting traits to this character, who finds herself in a very dysfunctional relationship. Perfect for 'Desperate Housewives!'"

She looks so different out of character. I like her look on DH. Nice wardrobe. A little 50' ish clothes. A nice change from Susan's and Bree's sexy clothes.

Beth's mother is Mrs Hubers sister. I like this character. I was wondering how long she was going to hold out to Paul in the bedroom. She is finding out about her husband. Felt a little sorry for Susan. She had her hopes on working with Renee and Lynette in their fashion line.
