Miley Cyrus may think focusing on her career right now is more important than attending college, but former child star Kellie Martin begs to differ.

Even though Miley has spread the message that she Can’t Be Tamed, former Life Goes On, Christy and E.R opened up to Fancast about what advice she’d share with the star about her career.

“I would tell Miley to go to college,” Kellie said. “I really think that saved me. Fred [Savage] went to Stanford, Mayim [Bialik] went to UCLA, I went to Yale.”

Mayim now has a PhD in neuroscience and a role as Jim Parsons‘ (Sheldon) love interest on Big Bang Theory. Likewise, Fred has since become a director and producer of shows like It’s Always Sunny in Philadephia.

Neither one, Fancast points out, has been arrested, gone bankrupt or had compromising photos released!

“It’s really, really important to get an education because when all of this is gone, then at least you have your education,” she explained. “Then you can do whatever it is you want to do. If tomorrow I decided to stop being an actor I could go do a lot of other things. ”

”Knowing that makes me a whole person and have confidence in who I am as a whole person as opposed to confidence in who I am as just an actor,” Kellie added. “I’m capable of dealing with life things as opposed to having other people around me deal with all my life things, which I think is really important.”

Kellie believes that with a college degree, Miley would have the complete package.

“She’s actually wildly talented, little Miley Cyrus, and she has a sweet family,” Kellie explained. “If she went to college, she’d be totally set. She’d be set forever.”

That was a great article Monika. I also agree, Miley should go to college. Every young adult should experience either college life and or military life to put things into perspective.

I've always been a Kellie Martin fan (especially due to her starring role in the short-lived CBS 1994-95 drama Christy). She put off going to Yale due to filming the series, but she eventually did go and earned her degree. She always seemed to have her head screwed on straight, even as a child actress in Troop Beverly Hills and then Life Goes On. Miley would do well to take Kellie's advice!

I agree! It would be sad if she ended up like Brian Bonsall or even Lindsay Lohan.

It's a nice thought, but I really don't know if it would do anything for Miley. She's already set for life no matter what. Kellie, Mayim and Fred are completely different people. They are people who always seemed to have their heads on straight.

That's great advice from Kellie Martin. However I doubt Miley will listen to it. She seems pretty determined to make her own choices and do things her own way.

Hopefully OTHER young girls will heed Kellie's advice, even if Miley doesn't!

Not to mention Fred's TWY co-star, Danica "Math Doesn't Suck" McKellar (Winnie).

I think military service should be voluntary, not mandatory. Just my opinion.

Who said anything about either one being voluntary or mandatory?
