Springfield= bad city. My city is horrible. It has nice sections but bad ones known as the "North End" and the "South End". There is a wicked gang called the "Latin Kings". That's probably what mine is noted for lol. Also, the Basketball Hall of Fame. Also the Springfield Falcons, in the AL Hockey Leauge. They suck though

I don't quite know what you meant by that but I'm gonna let it slide.

Helensburgh is actually pretty boring - the shops aren't that good and there's nothing to do. But the guy who invented the television, John Logie Baird, was born here and I reckon that's an amazing 'claim to fame'! :tv:

My small town Portsmouth here in the south of England is well known to have Charles Dickens born here, he was born in a house about a 10 minuete drive from where I live.

My town has been mentioned in Diffrent strokes before but they got it wrong and called it "Portsea"

My town (Mt. Clemens) is known as the mineral bath capital of the world. In the 1st half of the 20th century, people from all over would come stay at the many hotels that used to be here and take these mineral baths. They supposedly cured arthritis, back pain and many other ailments . The baths sort of went away I think around the 1950s, but I've heard recently that they are supposed to be making a comeback.

Lets see. Los Angeles is basicly known for everything. This is 'opportunity land', earthquake city and state. Psycho killers, probley the only city besides Hawii that is 90 degrees on Christmas. Hollywood, all the famous people, Beverly Hills, all those other rich places. We are the most diverse city in America, our advanced technology, our medical institutions, our beaches. We have Disneland, Six Flags etc., marathons and other fun activities. The home of the two time NBA championship basketball team, the Lakers. Hmm, what else? Smog city, well only in the city.We have a lot of resturants and stuff and a lot more that I can't think of.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think my town...err, CITY is known for everything I list and THEN SOME...

hookers, gangsters, rape, crime, Broadway, Central Park, Coney Island, 9/11 WTC tragedy, Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty being given up to the GREEDY NEW JERSEY PEOPLE...it doesnt belong to NYC anymore, people, TOURISTS (they're the ones who screw up this city...not all of them, just the stupid ones), the UN building, Chrysler Building, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, Wohlman's Ice Rink in Central Park, bars, police dept, Law & Order filmed everywhere, The Sopranos filmed everywhere, FILMS, the new Toys R Us (you should SEE THIS thing!), Times Square & the ball dropping on New Year's Eve, The World's Largest MACY'S, The Yankees, Mets, Giants, Madison Square Garden, Penn Station, Grand Central Station,....etc etc etc...

then there's Queens where I reside...and i wont go into the World's Fair, Shea Stadium, LaGuardia Airport, JFK Airport, the plane crash in November....etc...I'll let you look it up.

I'm pretty proud of my new home...my old one in California was known for having M.C. Hammer living up in the hills and grass fires. How dull.

I'm sure none of you have any clue what I'm talking about, but my town is known as "the ramp capital of the world". A ramp is some kind of plant that grows wild around here and we have a festival every year where people come and eat this thing. The "ramps" smell awful & I can't believe people actually eat them & I wouldn't touch them w/ a 10 foot pole!!!!

And If I am, is there something I could have blocked? Because I've known it for a while, but it's really getting on my nerves. Maybe TJ can answer this. Okay... what's my town known for?

Uh...

Beaches, palm trees, clifftop park, pier with carousel... all of which have been seen many, many times in films and TV shows. Numerous other locales that have also been used as backdrops.

It's very much a tourist trap as well.

But lately, I'd say that it's best known for its constant ongoing construction. For years now there has been all sorts of construction: new buildings, renovations, landscaping, road work.

Dirt and noise town.

Yep! That about says it all!

Anyways, all my town is known for is the River Rat Race. Actully, I think it's next weekend. However I think its pretty boring. The only good part is at the beginning when the race starts and all of the boats crash. It's funny seeing all of those boats flip.

Ayr,southern Scotland--- birthplace of John McAdam, the inventor of tarmac('tarmacadam'),also Rabbie Burns was born in the village of Alloway,a few miles away.............Also the castle at the south end of the beach(we have one at either end,jealous?..........lol)is built on the foundations of a 4th century AD Celtic fortress, which one historian has stated could be the real Camelot if his theory that Arthur was a Celtic warlord born in Ayrshire is correct............and the fanous Badon Hill battle would therefore have been fought on the reverse slope of the hill I am currently staring at at the south of the Ayr bay.....................

I wished I lived in a town of 3500. Where I live it used to be a farming and ranching town. It was known for it's ostrich ranches. There still are farms and some small ranches and dairy's but developers are buying up the land and corporations and housing developments and stores are every where. There so much traffic and the crime rate has gone up, plus rude people are moving here. What is so stupid is that these idiots move next to a farm and then complain to the city about the flies and smell. That's why the some of the farmers are moving. It's so sad.

They call us 'The Glass City' I'm not exactly sure why but I think it may have something to do with the glass skyscrapers downtown.

My city is also the Home of the Jeep, my uncle works there at the plant.

Seriously, this really hasn't been a popular town since the 50's maybe, or I don't know. It used to be known as the Copper City. (I live in Rome, NY btw) But whatever...I guess we're known for Woodstock 99...and we have Griffis Air Force Base here, it's been closed for a while now so that's why our city really isn't much of anything anymore because that's basically why people came here. Now that's where our highschool is  Oh, and Hilary Duff said our city on the Disney Channel. WOooo  She's goes "I'm going to Rome, and I'm not talking about Rome NY...etc" Made me excited because people actually know this city exists, even if it was Hilary Duff  I'm pathetic. i've had many "home" towns, but where I'm living now is the home of the "Dayton Boot Company" and "Daytons", "Dayton Adhesive Products" (DAP), and all those binders that say "Mead" on them. Apparently they are also in a quibble with Kittyhawk, NC over which town is the birthplace of flight; Dayton being the place that the Wright brothers lived and did most of their work.
hmmm, another interesting one is Delco, aka AC Delco - DelcoRemy, which originally came from Dayton ELectrical COmpany...

There's prolly more than that in Fayette, but the area where I live dosen't have any more than that. My school is grades k-12, and has about 500 students....so I live in the middle of nowhere.
