Hello everyone. I cant belive i have found a place dedicated to UM. This show has by far been my favorite show growing up. It really used to scare the hell out of me when I was a little kid. Being born in 84, my first actual memories are of me and my mother and sisters sitting in front of the TV eating chinese and waiting in excitement for this show to come on. Being a very sentimental person, watching these old episodeds takes me back to those days when life was much more simple. I love remembering the episodes and saying to myself " wow, the last time i saw this i was about 7-10 years old." Its such a throw back to see the types of clothes and hair that were in style that the actors and victims familys wore. Ah, the 80's. I also think its great that other people still think about the poor victims or the missing cases of people that were never found. Its amazing after all these years, throughout my childhood, I would often wonder about some of the cases that were permanently stuck into my head. Sadly, it seems like the missing are still missing. And 20 years later, its probably for the worst. Well, Im ranting now. Just wanted to say hello.

Have I posted enough yet to officially welcome anyone? Not sure. Anyway, welcome! I was born in '80 and have very similar memories as you describe. Every wednesday at my grandparents home was UM night! And for a short time also "The Story Behind The Story: from the producers of Unsolved Mysteries". Anyone remember that short lived spin off?
Anyway, again, welcome to the board!

I've been lurking here for AGES but this topic inspired me to register and post a welcome message here. =)
I was *also* born in 1984 and while I don't have a ton of vivid memories of the show growing up, I'm totally addicted to it now. Some of the cases (like that one where the girl was screaming all night and her neighbors didn't call the police) are truly baffling. I really hope some of them get solved one day/

Welcome! I am new here too. I am so glad I came across this place! I was born mid 80's as well and so like you, UM had a big impact on my childhood.

Welcome to the board. I just recently joined myself. Glad to have finally found a place where UM is discussed by knowledgeable and dedicated fans. Being born in 1982, UM is the one show that scared the crap out of me growing up on a consistent basis. Look forward to joining discussions/debates about this great show.

Welcome
I was born in 1979, I was lucky to have parents who loved UM just as much as I did, so even at the young age of 8 when UM first aired my parents let me watch it with them
Of course I watched UM on Lifetime when I was a teen and into my 20s
I love this forum because I am able to say "Hey the Redwood City Arsonist scared me to death!" and have pretty much every member say yes I know what you mean, I was scared also
Im just disappointed that I lurked for so long before creating an account (I would do anything to get CDs DVD volumes :( )

Welcome aboard!!
I just want to say every Wednesday when I was a kid too, 8-9 PM would be a special time for me. NBC and UM...
Only thing is come bedtime, I'd be scared ****less being I had the only bedroom downstairs with no windows and everyone else slept upstairs. I'd stay awake till my parents went to sleep then I'd sneek up to sleep on the couch in the living room...ah, those wer the days. UM - such an intriguing show but scared the crap out of me when i was a kid.
Now I'm still an avid fan and just intrigued by it all. Still watch it and am mezmorized by it.
Cheers and welcome!!
