Ohio trucker serial killer may be in prison

I posted this in the main thread about the Ohio truck driving slayings, but I wasn't sure if anyone saw it. And I've never seen this discussed on any of the forums or discussion about this UM case, but I thought it was relevant to the case so I thought it might interest some people who followed this case.

I know about this because it happened not far from where I live and was on the local news. But I've never seen this guy discussed in the Ohio trucker threads, so I thought it might be that few of you knew about him.

In 1995 a man named Sean Patrick Goble was arrested in connection with some sexual assault slayings in Tennessee and North Carolina. Like the Ohio serial killer, he went by the CB handle Stargazer. He targeted truck stop prostitutes as well.

To the best of my knowledge, Goble's trucking routes definitely took him across Ohio. He was 29 years old at the time he was arrested in 1995. I'm uncertain as to when the Ohio slayings began, but I'm pretty certain some were in the early 90's.

Goble was convicted of two murders near Bristol Tennessee and is currently serving a life sentence. The public defender has not allowed him to be interviewed with regards to the Ohio slayings from the article I am going to post it appears he could well have been involved in at least some of them.

Now I know that it appears their are over hundred unsolved murders across the country which have been connected to truck drives with similar MO. So its unlikely Goble or any one man is responsible for them all. But I felt this was definitely worth posting, as I think its very possible he was involved in at least some of the Ohio slayings discussed on UM.

If anyone who has followed this Ohio case in the past can look into this guy and compare notes with what they know about it feel free to discuss. Didn't the Ohio slayings begin in the mid 80's? That would have been about the time Goble was entering his 20's.

Great find! It's been a while since I saw this segment, but it seems to me that the time frames do match up...according to my memory. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge on this case will make an appearance :)

I'm of the firm opinion all these homicides weren't committed by the same person, maybe not even a truck driver in all cases.

Hey Megtheegg I know for a fact that Sean Goble had nothing to do with the Ohiop case you are talking about because he was in high school then and I know this because I attended high school with him and dated him for 4 months while in high school. I love the pictire of Kyle Clinkscales.

Sean Goble was living in my hometown of Asheboro, NC when he was arrested. I went to school with his ex-wife.

I believe you. I don't think Sean Goble had anything to do with any of the Ohio cases. I even doubt whether it was actually a truck driver who committed the "first" murder in 1981.

Thanks on the picture, the Kyle Clinkscales case is one that I'm very interested in. I used to live not incredibly far away from Troup County, GA where Kyle was from.

There's the possibility that some of the homicides are connected, concerning the victims who were known to work at the Union 76 truck stop in Austintown, Ohio. There's likely not one single perpetrator who murdered all of the victims in Ohio. Anytime you have a string of sexually motivated homicides in an area, there's always going to be conjecture about a lone serial killer. (Similar to the theory presented on UM about Joyce Chiang/Chandra Levy.) Sometimes the links are based on tenuous connections based on the victims residential/dump site locations, or the locations of a known serial killer.

Paula Beverly Davis (the second unidentified woman profiled on the UM segment) was last seen by her friend while they were both working as prostitutes at a truck stop near Kansas City. Lorenzo Gilyard, a Kansas City serial murderer, was suspected but not prosecuted for her death, due to the fact that he targeted known victims in the area where Davis resided. There's nothing definitive linking him, or anyone else, to her homicide. I still don't discount that a otr truck driver may have been involved in her murder and that Ohio was used as a convenient dump site for her body.

Agreed. I grew up in Houston, Tx and live outside of Houston now but there were a ton of specials back int he day called "The I-45 killer" or some connotation of that. They speculate that one person killed all these people that vanished/were murdered along I-45. I-45 runs from Galveston to Dallas. There is no way only 1 person committed all those murders. Just as I believe that these Ohio murders were not the work of one person.

Ok, after looking at the dates I agree Goble couldn't have done all or probably even most of these murders.

But I don't see how you can rule him out for all of them though, especially some of the later ones.
