It's one of the oldest soap cliches in the book - a saintly soap character has a pretty good chance of having an evil twin (usually played by the same actor in a dual role - but a good and evil twin were once played by actual twins - Deidre and Andrea Hall on DAYS). The cliche is right up there with amnesia, coming back from the dead, etc. :lol:

The old evil twin chestnut... used countless times by the soaps, some good, (Adam & Stuart/All My Children) some bad (Ben & evil twin Derek/Sunset Beach). Soaps are definitely going to need to explore new territory if they are to survive in the coming years...

I have been trying to think of "evil twins" on my favorite two soaps. Couldn't come up with any from Guiding Light...and the only one from ATWT I could think of that was one that came on after I quit watching; wasn't there a twin of Lily called "Rose" or something?

Oh wait, there was the Grant Putnam double from General Hospital years ago. Not a twin exactly, but close! :lol:

On Another World, Rachel had an evil lookalike named Justine (in the mid-90s). Evil twins, I think, were more commonplace back in the 50s and 60s.

^ I am pretty sure that Kaye Chancellor on Y and R had a twin or double, which I believe was evil as well.

Guiding Light did do the evil twin thing in the late 80's with Sonni/Solida. It turned out there were one person where Sonni took on the Solida personality after she was killed. She was married to Josh Lewis for a while, and briefly dated Roger Thorpe.

Sabrina and Frannie were identical twins (separated at birth, no less!) on ATWT and while Sabrina was a bit mischievous in messing with Frannie's relationship with Seth Snyder, I guess you couldn't really call her "evil".

They weren't twins - they were half-sisters (their father was Bob Hughes) and cousins (their mothers were sisters Jennifer and Kim). But when Julianne Moore was on the show, she played both roles - thus the girls looked exactly alike!!

I remember that storyline. Back when ATWT was so good. It was from the fall of 1987.

Actually, I wasn't watching soaps then. :lol: But I do have a couple of soap books and that's where I read about Julianne Moore's storylines on ATWT. :D

Ahh, see that's where you should have said, "Yes, I'm a "soap savant", able to recall the minutest of details from any point in my life!" :lol:

I was still watching ATWT in 1987, though it was shortly after I kind of drifted away. I was just out of college and my mom watched it daily. :)

ATWT sure has had its share of heartbreak offscreen, what with the suicide of Benjamin Hendrickson (Hal Munson) in 2006; the oral cancer and later collapsing marriage of Colleen Zenk Pinter (Barbara Ryan), the controversial exit of Austin Peck (Brad Snyder), who was supposedly having an affair with Terri Colombino (Katie Snyder) - and both were married to others. Now Helen Wagner, with the show from Day One, passes away just before the show fades to black. What a shame. ohno:

Here are some pics of Julianne as Frannie and Sabrina. Sabrina is the one in the glasses in the b&w photo. Sabrina didn't follow Frannie back to Oakdale this year when Julianne returned to ATWT earlier this year.

Yep, and when Rose was first introduced she tried to steal Holden away while pretending to be Lily, while Lily was stranded on a deserted island with Simon. She later had a long relationship with Paul, before being poisoned to death by Will just before her wedding to Paul.

I can't believe I remember all of that.:lol:
