Lee Meriwether will reprise the role of Ruth Martin (who retired to Florida with husband Joe in January) later this month on AMC, when Ruth pays a visit to Pine Valley as son Jake prepares to remarry his wife, Amanda. "She looks more beautiful than ever," says Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake). "It was great to have her back."

Opal's just Tad's mom, but Tad was raised from age 10 by the Martins, who found him battered and bruised. Jake was born a few years after Joe and Ruth adopted Tad.

Now that I think about it, Jake is Ruth's only child. She raised Phil, but he was really her sister Amy's.
