I hadn't seen a thread on it, so I thought I'd see what you guys' thoughts were on it.
For those unfamiliar, it was the mysterious guy who kept sending strange pictures to the authorities in Canada, strange alien photos, photos of alleged spacecraft, things like that.
I always thought it was a fascinating case. It was on the TV show Sightings as well.
Funny thing about it is there was supposedly some new information that surfaced and they thought they had a suspect.
Was this a hoaxer or something legit?

I remember this one :)
In all honesty i haven't seen it in some time. As i recall there were reports of a UFO landing in Canada and shortly thereafter a video of the landing as well as some still photos were sent to at least one UFO researcher. I haven't heard anything about this one in years. The VHS tape that Guardian sent had a fingerprint on the label of the tape of course making it more dramatic.
I never did see anything that could ever disprove the video Guardian sent. Researchers ran it through quite a few tests and at the least seemed convinced that the video showed something real and most likely life sized at the location indicated by witnesses. While I usually take the UFO stuff with a grain of salt, this one was quite interesting as to my knowledge, it was never disproved. I would love to hear of any new info on it though.

I used to have an immense interest in this case and even corresponded with Bob Oechsler, the investigator who received the Guardian tape and went to UM.
There is a lot to this story that wasn't covered on UM.
MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network, released a series of reports on the events and made a pretty good case for it being a hoax. The files used to be available on the net, but I have been unable to find them recently. I downloaded them, in Text format, some time ago. I'll attach the file to this post.

I remember this case, I am not sure if its hoax. Canada had a Rosewell type incident and in true Canadian fashion wrote everything down in a public file, pretty much confirming they made contact. I remember seeing in on History Channel special. Canada doesn't have the hang ups about the other worldy elements like the US does. If I remember correctly the US took over the investigaton and made it ultra secret, but forgot about the intial report. I can see Guardian being 50% on target with the stuff, I remember the videos looking very real. Probably the beginning of the Lone Gunmen Movement prior to X-Files.

thanks for the file justins5256. Haven't read the entire thing yet, quite a bit of info there, but i plan to finish it here shortly. it sure does put this case into another light. I have not heard anything on this case in years and it is interesting to see some developments. if it is indeed a hoax, I would be very interested in how exactly they created such a hoax at the time. it seems after so many years now, someone would have let something slip or confess to it being a hoax. That being said, I do think in all probability, this was a hoax. but it is very intersting to say the least.

Not sure how reliable this is, but a poster on another forum claims that the Guardian suspect, Bobby Charlebois, eventually admitted it was a hoax years later.

I did some additional Googling earlier today, and apparently there are still some people who believe that the UFO video is authentic.
I think MUFON's explanations make more sense. Just my opinion.
