Hey everyone. Many of you may noticed that I have been gone for awhile. Well I have encountered a few health problems. I suffer from bipolar disorder which caused me to have a bad experience sometime back. I was also diagonsed with sleep apnea sometime back which I have been learning to deal with. I'm having orthognathic surgery next Friday. I have been wearing braces for the past two years and the surgery will help correct several jaw problems. I will be spending 2-3 days in the hospital. My jaws will be wired shut for at least 4 weeks. I will likely be having my tonsils, adeniods and uvula removed at some point Due to combination of my physical and mental health problems I will be moving back in with my parents for awhile.

Welcome back, browneyes! :)
P.S. Do you have TMJ? I have that but have managed to avoid having surgery.
At any rate, good luck with all you've been going through.

Yes, we've sure missed you. :) I hope your conditions are corrected. Some R&R at your parent's home will surely be a good thing. Get ready to lose weight with your jaws wired shut for four weeks. I'm sure you have a plan; but please be sure to add protein and vitamin shakes to your diet. You'll need to keep your nutrition up in order to have a successful recovery. Good luck and Godspeed.

Thank you everyone for thoughts and prayers. It is possible that I might have surgery on Thursday afternoon. But I will get final word on that tomorrow. I don't have TMJ but have a bad underbite and a problems with my top jaw.

I just talked to the surgeons and my surgery was moved up to Thursday morning. They said I might be able to go home after spending a night in the hospital it depends on well I do after the surgery. They are also going to put me on a nasogastric tube for four weeks so I can eat. I'm going to be homebound most of the time.

I spent today preparing to check into the hospital tomorrow. I have to be at the hospital at 5 am for pre-op. My surgery is schuleded to start between 7 to 8 am. It will last 5-6 hours. I went to my final pre-op appointment this morning they gave several button front pajama tops, two jaw bras, syringes for water and other supplies for my home care. I might be released on Friday afternoon. but it depends on how well I do when I get out of surgery. They are requrining that I spend at least 18 hours post surgery on oxygen and with ECG monitors on my chest.

Hi everyone. I'm still in the hospital. I went into surgery around 8:30 am and it lasted four hours. I was in recovery for about 3 hours and then I was taken to my room. Right now I'm still being monitored by the ECG machines and I'm on oxygen cannulas. I might be released later today. They are going to try walk me later on today.

I have been feeling pretty good today. I have been sipping fluids pretty well. Hopefully I'll get the NG tube removed this Friday. My swelling has gone down some.

Update
My bands come off next week and I will start taking soft foods by mouth. I went to appointment today with my ENT. My septum has redeviated and I have polyps in both sides of my nose. I will have to undergo a revision septoplasty in August to realign my septum and remove the polyps.
