Actor Peter Haskell, a veteran of episodic television in all genres, died Monday, his daughter reported on Facebook. He was 75.
Haskell was in the voice cast of Fred Calvert Productions' I Am the Greatest: The Adventures of Muhammad Ali, which ran for 13 episodes on NBC in 1977-78.
His work ranged from his debut in a 1964 Death Valley Days episode to the final episode of ER.
He was producer Kevin Grant in the prime-time 1969-70 drama Bracken's World, Charles Estep in the 1978 mini-series Rich Man, Poor Man - Book II, and assistant district attorney Tyler Chase in The Law and Harry McGraw (1987). He also played the title role in the 1972 TV-movie thriller The Eyes of Charles Sand.
Haskell's other TV-movies included The Cloning of Clifford Swimmer and The Suicide Club (both for Wide World Mystery), Love Hate Love (with Lesley Ann Warren and Ryan O'Neil), The Cracker Factory (with Natalie Wood), The Phantom of Hollywood and Mandrake.
A regular on the daytime soap operas Search for Tomorrow and Ryan's Hope, Haskell had recurring roles in Garrison's Gorillas, The Big Valley, Mannix, Medical Center, Barnaby Jones and Vega$.
He guested on such shows as The Outer Limits, Dr. Kildare, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Ben Casey, The Fugitive and Charlie's Angels.
Occasionally, he appeared in feature films, including The Legend of Earl Durand and Christina (both 1974). He starred as Sullivan, CEO of Good Guy Toys, in Child's Play 2 (1990) and Child's Play 3 (1991).
Born in Boston on October 15, 1934, he was the son of well-known geophysicist Norman A. Haskell. After attending Browne & Nichols prep school in Cambridge, he was a Private First Class in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, then received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Harvard.
Although he was accepted to study at Columbia Law School, a Harvard professor recommended him to playwright Derek Washburn for the off-Broadway production The Love Nest. He was cast with James Earl Jones and Sally Kirkland. The play closed after just 13 performances, but the appearance led him to his first TV role.
He appeared on Matlock, Frasier, Columbo, JAG, The Closer and Cold Case in recent years.
While working in soap operas in New York City , he attended New York Law School from 1982 to 1983.
He was married to Annie Compton from 1960 until their 1974 divorce. In 1974, he married Dianne Tolmich.
