Spence Olchin Chosen As One Of The Worst Television Best Friends of All Time

Spence Olchin. For most of the series run of The King of Queens, Spence Olchin was the reliable, good friend of Doug Heffernan, even carrying a picture of BFF Doug in his wallet. But when Doug and his wife Carrie started having marital problems, Spence moved in- trying to get Carrie to fall for him. In one of the darker episodes of the long running comedy, Spence even made an anonymous phone call to Doug to cause friction between the couple. Oh well, Deacon was a better friend to Doug anyway.

Spence can't be the worst television best friend of all time because he wasn't Doug 's best friend. He thought he was Doug's best friend but in reality it was Deacon who was Doug's best friend. If Spence was actually a best friend to anyone it would be Doug's cousin Danny.

That was quite a bizarre move on the writers' part. I'm not sure I'll ever understand that one.
