Does anyone remember a case I am SURE was on UM, but I can't find it. Mother was murdered and her baby daughter died from dehydration because it took so long to find the mom's body -- I'm thinking it was in Florida.
Anyone else remember this?

Well John Purvis was the innocent man convicted. The victims were Susan Hamwi and her daughter Shane. The killers, well Robert Beckett was granted immunity although he was already doing 25 to life in a California prison for another murder so he was not going anywhere. Paul Serio and Susan's ex-husband were both convicted of first degree murder in regards to Susan's death although both were acquitted of murder in Shane's death. Both were sentenced to 25 years to life in a Florida prison. Serio died in prison in 2004. Hamwi is still alive, now 65 years old and is still fighting his conviction.

This is how Hamwi looks today. He is 64, going to be 65 later this year but looks considerably older. http://www.dc.state.fl.us/ActiveInmates/detail.asp?Bookmark=1&From=list&SessionID=335327886

This is what Paul Serio looked like in his last prison mugshot. Serio bounced around the Florida prison system for several years, but died 10 years into his life sentence. He died on February 20th, 2004, he was 57 years old. http://www.dc.state.fl.us/InmateReleases/detail.asp?Bookmark=1&From=list&SessionID=335302552
