Hey Everyone!
I need some assistance. So I wrote my FIRST cover letter today! Excited? Kind of. Anxious? You betcha! I was wondering if you guys can tell me what you think. I've never really been a good letter-writer. Does it sound too cocky? Too abrupt? Too unbelievable? Too under/over-qualified? Too ___? ___? ___? AHH! Help much, much appreciate. Thanks! (Today's also my 9th anniversary on Sitcomsonline. Whoo! I'm old.)

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am responding to your job posting on the XXX website for a Research Project Manager. I am currently a senior attending XXX. My major is Psychology, and my minor is Child & Adolescent Mental Health Studies. I expect to graduate in May 2010.
I have been working as a Research Intern at the XXX since Fall 2008. My experience there helped to familiarize me with, not only the research track, but the management of large databases, as well. In addition to coding a variety of behavioral tasks and transcribing structured clinical interviews, I handled patient files and prepared spreadsheets to track coding progress. As a result, Word and Excel were always close at hand. Additionally, as a student currently working on her Honors Thesis, I improved my writing and public speaking skills drastically while utilizing Powerpoint to deliver presentations.
I believe that my candidacy is enhanced through my research, clinical, and academic experience. I have become a strong believer of efficiency and succinctness. I am meticulous in my work habits, diligent, and extremely well organized. I get along with people well and exhibit great interpersonal skills. I am full of ideas, yet am a great listener who is always receptive to feedback as I am constantly eager to learn and improve.
I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you personally to further discuss my qualifications. If you have any questions or need clarification, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
XXX
