Max: I think enhanced mode is much easier.
Kellie: When you go to post a reply, look to the upper left where it says "vB Code", that's where you switch between normal and enhanced mode.

Kellie & Max, that post didn't work because you didn't close your tags properly.
Basic course in code. Most of the message board codes work like this, whether it is vB, UBB, or HTML. There are some variations on the theme, but basically, if you can remember what I'm about to tell you, you should be coding soon with the best of 'em!
To make an effect happen to your text, you must put the text in between code tags. Code tages use either brackets [ ] or carots < >. This board's code uses brackets. For the purpose of explaining how to use tags, I'm going to replace the brackets with this little curly thing: { }, because if I used normal brackets the tags would disappear when I post this.
Whenever you apply an effect to your text, you must have one open tag and one closed tag for each effect. A tag like this {COLOR=royalblue} is the "open" tag. In order for the text to appear royal blue, you must close the tag. A closed tag looks like this: {/COLOR}
Another example: for bold font, open tag: {B} closed tag: {/B}
You can apply multiple effects to your text as well. Whenever you do that, all of the open tags must appear at the front, and all the closed tags at the end.
Example:
{COLOR=red}{B}{I}This text would appear red, bold, and italic.{/COLOR}{/B}{/I}
Pretty easy once you familiarize yourself with it, right?
Now as for the difference between "normal" and "enhanced" mode. When you are in normal mode, you must click on what option you want to use. For example, if you want to write in the "tomato" color, you have to choose "tomato" from the pull down menu above, and then a little box will pop up. Everything you want to appear in tomoto color has to be typed in that box. Then when you click ok, it automatically inserts the tags like I talked about above. The reason I don't like normal mode, is because it makes it difficult to apply many different things at once, like different color and font at the same time. At least I haven't figured out any easy way to do it in "normal" mode.
Enhanced mode makes it very easy to use many different effects at once. Whenever you are using more than one effect, you simply have to click on the box or the pull down menu above. So if you want bold and medium sized text, you simply select "medium" from the pull down menu and click on the "B" box. Then you simply type your text, and when you are done, you click on the "close all tags" box on the right.
I think that should be a general overview. If you have any more questions feel free to ask, but you may also find the F.A.Q. useful (it is up top by the "user cp" button.) Just play around with it, you should get the hang of it pretty quickly.
