puppy tips anyone?!

we got a puppy a few days before christmas and its like trying to take care of a little kid! she tends to whine a lot and jump on you a lot now i know shes just a puppy but how can we get her to stop that whitout yelling at her so much?!! if and of you have any tips to give us...then thanks!

The last time I dealt with a puppy was about nine years ago when my family got a puppy from my uncle's border collie. She jumped on us a lot and would whine if we didn't pay attention to her. My uncle suggested crate training to calm her down and it worked after awhile. What kind of breed is the puppy?

I also crated my puppy. Then I would take her out to play with us. At night she sleeps in her crate and I always put extra food and water.

Crate training is what I would suggest as well!!! It worked for my dog when he was a puppy. Also what may help is obedience classes you can attend with your puppy to teach her general commands, etc.

well guys thanks your tips and shes a black lab but i don't want to put her in crate you don't know her she'll yowl her head off and it'll just make things worse! i know she'll get used to it but no i don't think so...thanks!
