Houston -- The world's largest retailer, Walmart, has decided to close some of its Sam's Club stores, and one is in southwest Houston, KPRC Local reported Tuesday.

Walmart officials said the 10 stores were "financially underperforming."

The Sam's Club on Dunvale Road near Westheimer Road has already been shut down. A sign has been posted on the door.

In the move, 1,500 workers nationwide will lose their jobs.

Stores to close are in Nampa, Idaho; La Quinta, Calif.; Louisville, Colo.; Vista, Calif.; Rolling Meadows, Ill.; Clay, N.Y.; and Irvine, Calif.

Houston, Phoenix and Sacramento, Calif., will each lose one store.

More people will be out of work, what a shame.

And to think, the government is trying to claim the recession is over.

Wow, Wal*Mart is closing stores, huh? (I said this because Wal*Mart owns Sam's Club.) The only Wal*Mart stores I've seen closed are older and had another open up nearby.

I'll bet the union thugs are loving this!

There was a Wal*Mart Closing in Garfield Heights, Ohio because of methane gas worries, and that Shopping Center may be falling down the cliff since it's been a half-assed Shopping Center anyhow.
