View Full Version : New Born Murdered at Ten Killer Lake Okla. circa 1989

Does anyone remember an old episode of UM, where a couple had drove down to Ten Killer Lake and both got out of the car and walked down to the beach. There the woman, who was obviously pregnant, went into labor. As soon as the child was born, the man turned around and tossed the child into the lake, dragged the woman back up to the car, and then drove off.
Witnesses in a boat, saw the whole thing but were unable to do anything to stop it. The guy was described as a tall Indian and the woman as a dark blond Caucasian. This episode stated that it happened sometime around 1989-90.
The reason I was asking was, back at the time I was staying in Claremore, Ok. and gal I knew had gotten pregnant by a tall Indian guy who was somewhat abusive. She kept her pregnancy a secret and later dropped out. As for the guy, I don't know what happened to him...
A couple of years ago I decided to toss her into MySpace and do a search and bam, there she was! Based on info she provided on her MySpace, I did a search at Classmates.com and read her profile.
In her Classmates profile, she stated that she turned around and went home and later transferred to a college in Texas, later graduated, and gotten married. There was NO mention of her relationship with John nor any comments/pictures/acknowledgment of her pregnancy at the time! She did have information of the kids that she had since then.
When I sent her a 'friend request' on MySpace, they changed her account mood to "depressed". Something I thought was odd since I was one of the few friends she had in college. And no, she didn't add me to her friends list.
Another odd thing, in her Classmates.com profile she said moved to Texas to continue college. Well later that summer of the same year, Terry Chewey, also from Claremore, turned up dead. Beaten to death outside a bar in Dallas. Terry used to date John before he started dating her. He used to give her some savage beating, often going on for hours. Pretty odd string of events.
Now the question I have, do I remember this episode correctly or am I mixing it up with something else?

Wow.The episode in question aired on 12/18/91. I don't offhand recall when or where the birth and murder occurred. I have the episode on DVDR. I'll watch it and report back, or if anyone else knows, feel free to fill us in as I won't be able to check my DVD until late this afternoon.

I was wondering if I had it mixed up or something. I remembered it was a real big deal. I was curious if it was ever solved. I went to UM website and sent them an email but they replied that they don't keep up with the shows subject matter since it was off the air.
If anything, I recall a "Special Alert" segment about the search for an unknown couple for the killing of a newborn. But at the time of the broadcast, it was established that the crime had happened recently. In fact, I seem to remember the segment mentioning that the incident happened in October of 1991, and that the newborn was beaten to death. This segment did, however, mention that there was a witness who looked on helplessly. Also, it was, indeed, an Oklahoma case.

IIRC the man who beat the baby to death, and I can't believe that anyone would ever have to type those words, was indeed a Native American looking man with long black hair.

Ok I was wondering... If it was 91 then it was a bit too late... This happened around 89, I was in Tahlequah back in 91. Thanks for clearing that up. I just have to chalk her behavior up as 'weird' and leave it at that even thought I did wonder if that was her and John. Thanks.

Yes I recalled he beat the baby with a rock or something. Awful!

I know I have this Special Alert on one of my videos but I'm having trouble finding it.
But I found this through google...
On November 12, 1991, the body of a newborn infant, Baby Jane Doe, was found in rural McIntosh County, near Warner, Oklahoma. An eyewitness saw a man assist in the delivery of the infant. As soon as the infant was delivered, the man stuffed the infant in a plastic bag. When the eyewitness later checked the plastic bag, he found the dead infant inside. The OSBI is assisting McIntosh County in this case.

I think the couple escaped in a explorer or truck, I can't remember which one exactly. Wish I could find this segment.

I now realize that I was incorrect when I thought the crime occurred in October. My bad. But I was close; I was actually correct when I remembered that the crime was committed in the fall of 1991.

I vividly remember that case. That jackass bashed and bludgeoned a newborn baby to death and dumped her body in a trashbag. It was a Special Alert segment.
If this is true, you might want to contact the authorities ASAP. This could be a major break to solve this case.

Don;t know a lot about this case but as awful as this case sounds...it sadly is not that uncommon.
Possible, A sort of really, really late term abortion in the minds of the parents (no joke intended).
As vicious as the fathers actions were....there was a practically to it. He had to kill the kid somehow. It wasn;t like he could drown the child in water. Any method of death was going to be brutal. Might as well use a stone(no joke intended)
I'm not condoning what this guy did, nor am i saying that he's not a vicious SOB...I'm just saying he may not be a "monster" were looking for.
You know now that I think about it...this type of crime probably happened a lot pre-abortion rights.

Give the kid up. Drop it on someone's doorstep. Leave it on a bench in a heavily used park. Leave it at a church. Bring it to the cops and tell them you "found" it. Give the damn thing a fighting chance. A lot of people have the argument of "if I'm going to carry a kid for nine months, and go through birthing it, I'm keeping it." Well, they obviously didn't want to keep it, so give the kid to someone who'll actually care for it, rather than bludgeon it to death. I'm sorry, but I can't agree with you on this one. Anyone who's going to beat a newborn to death is a monster.

Now with safe harbor laws, parents of unwanted children have a safe option without worry of criminal prosecution. Like Mastermind, I do not condone this horrible action and the perpetrator should be caught and punished harshly, but I agree with him that I think that desperation and despair could make many otherwise normal people into monsters.

Well said! Let's all keep in mind that much of the evil that is perpetrated in the world isn't done by psychopaths or sociopaths but by people just like any of us on this forum. Social psychologists have demonstrated this for quite some time now.

Baby Jane Doe case cracked after 18 years
The mother of Baby Jane Doe, a newborn slain on the banks of Jacob Johnson Lake near Warner 18 years ago, was arrested in July.
Penny Anita Lowery of Tulsa was a student at Connors State College in Warner at the time of the slaying.
A man with Lowery was seen beating the baby to death within moments of the infant drawing her first breath.
McIntosh County Sheriff Joe Hogan said when Lowery was arrested she showed no remorse.
She told officers she “didn’t think about that time much at all,” Hogan said.
Lowery has refused to identify the man with her who so callously bashed the baby’s head on a rock.
Lowery has been in McIntosh County Jail since her arrest in lieu of $500,000 bond. She faces trial as early as February.

Attaching a police booking photo of this living piece of trash baby killer. Hope they throw the book at her. She still isn't talking about who the Indian man was, apparently the father of the baby had no inkling about the whole thing.
This case gets my blood boiling. I couldn't find any information about the trial, I guess it is possible it hasn't begun yet.

Hate to tell you I told you so, but...
Like I said in another thread (about the most cruel cases), a woman who lets some gonzo bash a newborn baby like that with a rock without at least trying to stop him deserves to fry on the chair.
And judging by her lack of remorse and her refusal to give out her accomplice, and not restrained by any jury duty, I guess this attitude is perfectly justified. That woman is a nasty piece of human waste and deserve no mercy or empathy.
But I take solace in the possibility she is in for a "nice" welcome party by her girl pals at the P4W... And at least, the case is now solved and perhaps we could put a rest to this sinister case. And Baby Jane Doe's family, if they are even a little more humane than that bitch, will be able to put her into a final resting place.
Speaking of which, the question is, was she captured thanks to TwoShades tip to the police? Was she the woman he wrote us about? :)

Update- Penny Anita Lowry pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and was sentenced to 45 years in prison last month. She has refused to identify the man who was with her by the lakeside that day, but I am sure it's only a matter of time. She was found guilty of a lesser charge due to the fact that she didn't kill the infant with her own hands. Even so, good riddance to that evil woman.

I'm glad they cought this piece of you know what, but only 45 years!? COME ON! Anyone involved in a Murder case, if they didn't actually pull the trigger or in this case, do the beating, should get LIFE! The person who pulled the trigger/did the beating should get DEATH and the person/persons who helped should all get LIFE. If you have anything to do with Murder you should be put away FOREVER!
