... or does anyone else think that the Internet is trying to run (some might
say ruin) or lives? Nowadays, without stepping outside our doors, we can
send mail to our friends, buy stuff online, listen to music, watch television
shows, read books or magazines or comics ... do almost anything. Call me
an "old fogey" but I for one miss the "good old days" when life was so much
simpler. Technology has changed all our lives, and I'm not sure always for
the better. Does anyone else agree (or am I just hopelessly stuck in the past)?

I actually like that you can buy things online rather than have to go out and get it. Of course, being on the computer takes up too much of my time, to where I end up neglecting other things I should be doing!!

My computer was recently in the shop for a few days and I made the shocking discovery that there is a whole world that exists apart from the internet! I actually went outside and went for a walk. I read an actual book. I even went to my Dad's place and visited with him. In person! Who knew that all these things were possible without a computer? One of these days I should google this topic!

I feel the same way although, Howard Hughs would have loved it doing everything at home lol.

I personally like technology! You can do so many things online that you can't do in the real world (i.e. get published and have the world see your work, record a mix and let the world hear it, etc.). Less frustration (sometimes) but I feel it has become more or less an extension of reality. You've still got the same rules of conduct, same structure, same hypersensitivities, same everything.

I use the Internet, but I try not to abuse it. In other words, I don't let it control me. I play around with it, but I also do what has to be done. It's hard, sure, but that's where self control comes in.

I so agree with you. Everything is done online these days. Me I am old school so I dont need technology all the time. Its been a godsend in my life, but I dont let that stop me from celebrating the sights and sounds of the past, and I still prefer to communicate person to person face to face over anything else.

The Internet in a lot of ways does run our lives sometimes depending on how we use it and how we choose to use it. I have gotten more into doing online shopping in the past couple of years. Sometimes online shopping can be a stress saver especially during the holidays. I do use the Internet to communicate online more with friends and relatives who live out of state. I do listen to music online and I watch music videos. I don't care to watch tv shows online unless I miss something or forget to DVR it. I know a few people who have really gotten into streaming Netflix movies through their computers. I like watching movies better on an actual TV. I don't see myself getting into the streaming movies thing.
