When the 'Desperate Housewives' casting call went out for a put-upon-mother-of- four-unhinged-boys, the spirited TV and theater actress Felicity Huffman won the role. But the folks over at 'The Middle' do things a little differently.
Orson, Indiana will get its own exhausted mother of four boys -- played by none other than Brooke Shields. The queen of 'Lipstick Jungle' and supermodel for the ages will de-glam to wage mommy war against Patricia Heaton's Frankie Heck.
It gets hectic for the Hecks as single-mom Brooke's brood ransacks the neighborhood. Shields brings her comedy chops ('Friends,' 'Suddenly Susan') to ABC's new sitcom early next year, according to EW's Michael Ausiello.
Shields also has a pivotal role in the latest shocking autobiography to hit bookstores, ex-husband Andre Agassi's 'Open.' Shields penned her own brutally honest memoir in 2005, 'Down Came the Rain,' an account of her experience with post-partum depression.
Heaton and Shields should make formidable foes. Though Heaton has two Emmys and a classic sitcom ('Everybody Loves Raymond') on her resume, Shields does have a 10-inch height advantage.
