View Full Version : Patricia Heaton's 'The Middle' Receives Nomination for "People's Choice Awards 2010"

Two freshman comedies with strong Northeast Ohio connections received nominations Tuesday for the "People's Choice Awards 2010," which will air at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, on WOIO Channel 19. Among the shows nominated for favorite new TV comedy are ABC's "The Middle," which stars Bay Village native Patricia Heaton, and NBC's "Community," with a creative team including Cleveland's filmmaking Russo brothers and a cast featuring East Cleveland native Yvette Nicole Brown.

Also nominated as favorite new TV comedy were ABC's "Modern Family," which stars Youngstown native Ed O'Neill, and Fox''s animated "The Cleveland Show," with a lead character named Cleveland Brown.

Heaton is a two-time Emmy winner for her role as Debra Barone on "Everybody Loves Raymond." Joe and Anthony Russo, who are executive producers on "Community," won an Emmy for directing the pilot episode of Fox's "Arrested Development."

More than 16 million votes were cast at www.peopleschoice.com to deterimine the nominees. Voting for the winners begins today at that web site and www.myspace.com/peopleschoiceawards. Voting ends Dec. 8.

That's great news. The Middle is my favorite new sitcom of the season. Hopefully this nomination will help get it renewed.
