I just got done watching this flick. Part of it was filmed right here in Kalamazoo at the Checker Motor Plant and at this bar called Louie's. The rest was filmed in Detroit. It stars Richard Pryor, Harvey Keitel, and Yaphet Kotto as three automotive workers who deal with a union that couldnt care less about their workers, and who deal with living from paycheck to paycheck as the bills pile up. They come up with this scheme to rob their union, and everything goes downhill from there. This is a great film and a rare chance to see Pryor in a dramatic role. As a former automotive worker, its got a lot I can relate to, and makes me not want to go back to the factory. This is one film I reccomend yall check out.
I watched this movie when I was in high school -- sometime in early 1979, if I remember correctly -- at my friend's house. It was on the So. Cal. "pay TV" channel, back in the days before almost everyone had a cable subscription.
I remember liking the movie a lot but I can't remember the details, probably because of the beer we were drinking. However, I later noted that it was the first time I had seen Yaphet Kotto, who became a pretty big TV star when "Homicide" became a hit series in the 1990s.

I actually saw this movie by accident a few years ago on one of the cable channels. It was real good. I had never knew it existed. It doesn't air that much. This was obviously one of Richard's underrated flicks. It was real dramatic at a time when Richard was doing comedies and in his prime. I have to get this movie.
