From Soaps in Depth website:

Barr will raise the bar for AMC's 40th.
This just in: Julia Barr will return as Brooke during ALL MY CHILDREN's 40th anniversary episodes in January!

Barr's publicist confirms that the show just approached the actress in the past few days. "I was very happy to be invited to participate in AMC’s 40th anniversary show," Barr says in a statement. "I look forward to the taping and to seeing old friends. I am particularly glad for my fans, since I know how much they miss Brooke!"

Brooke may never have officially left Pine Valley, but she hasn't been seen since Barr parted ways with the soap in 2006. An AMC rep had no comment on Barr's return.

That's great news. I always hated that Julia/Brooke got no respect from TIIC and was left to just fade off the canvas. She was only on the show for 30 years and the winner of two Emmy awards, but whatever.

From TV Guide Magazine Website:

All My Children 40th Anniversary Guest List by Michael Logan

ABC has big plans to celebrate the 40th anniversary of All My Children on January 5. The return of Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos as Hayley and Mateo Santos has already been announced but here—in a TV Guide Magazine exclusive—is the rest of the fabutastic guest list. Fans can look forward to the return of two-time Emmy winner Julia Barr (Brooke), CSI: Miami star Eva La Rue (Maria), Taylor Miller (Nina), Laurence Lau (Greg) and Leven Rambin (Lily). Eden Riegel (Bianca) has also agreed to return but only for that episode. Plans to bring her back full-time have fallen through, despite the fact she now lives in L.A. and AMC is moving there in December. ABC has yet to release details about the anniversary plot and what brings all these favorites back to the show but we do know this: It all has to do with Ripa’s character, who will return to Pine Valley on some sort of business involving her TV talk show. More news coming!

AMC is bringing back a lot of great actors (and characters) from the past for their 40th anniversary. Well done AMC!

Sounds awesome so far - since Taylor Miller is coming back, wouldn't it be awesome if Gillian Spencer did, too (she played Nina's mom and Palmer's ex-wife)? Speaking of Palmer, is James Mitchell still going to be on AMC or is he retiring like Ray MacDonnell (Joe)?

They're saying that James is pretty much retired...his health is not what it used to be. Not as bad as to be expected from an 89-year-old, but he's getting up there. I'm hoping that with Nina's visit, we get a nice tie-up for Palmer so that we know that he's enjoying his twilight years somewhere.

I want Gillian Spencer back like you wouldn't believe! I LOVE that woman!

I watched AMC on and off for years, but was never as huge a fan as I was of GH, Days and OLTL. But I have fond memories of Greg and Jenny! I'll have to remember to watch in January. Hopefully I won't get stuck on AMC again though!
