I'm currently watching the season two DVDs and just watched "Edith's Problem," the classic menopause episode.

And probably one of the funniest episodes of this show EVER!!

I've said it before and the old fart in me will say it again:

"THEY DON'T MAKE SHOWS LIKE THIS ANYMORE!!"

I know at least Monika will agree with me, because although she was child of the '80s and '90s, she loves classic seventies shows probably as much, if not more, than me!:D

Great show. I've been going through watching my AITF dvds lately, and that episode is truly hilarious. "You got exactly SIXTY seconds to change, Edith. Now go on and CHANGE dammit" lol

I think seasons 2 and 3 are the best, although 4 did have some classic moments as well. It seemed to lose a little something in 5, but I'm not certain what it was or why. JMO

AITF is IMO the best written and acted sitcom, ever. I can rewatch those episodes time and time again and still be prompted to laughter and tears, often in the same scene.

A true classic.

AITF is IMO the best written and acted sitcom, ever. I can rewatch those episodes time and time again and still be prompted to laughter and tears, often in the same scene.

A true classic.

And if you think about it, just substitute Bush or Obama for Nixon, Iraq for Vietnam and it's still relevant. We still have the race issues and the black vs. white thing.:(

On the one hand, All In The Family is timeless and funny because it was so well-written and acted and speaks to the human condition. But it's sad how little we've progressed as a country. In some respects, we've regressed since then.:(

In my opinion the 1970's was pretty hit or miss when it came to good TV shows. All In The Family however was a perfect hit. The networks today on their best day make a show as great as this.

AITF is MORE than just a great show. It is a masterpiece - one of highest peaks on TV's landscape. It not only turned TV upside down with its courageous and progressive commitment to "thinking outside the box" but it did it with brilliance, sensitivity and trenchant wit. The show was easily 25 yrs ahead of its time. It and I Love Lucy are the Citizen Kane's of TV - at least to me.

I'm glad AITF aired when it did, when a show could be daring and creative and push the envelope without the PC police jumping all over it. And it was during a time when a network gave a show a chance to find an audience.

Networks wouldn't touch a show like AITF today out of fear of offending anyone and if it got the initial tepid ratings response that it did when it first aired, it would be cancelled within one or two airings.

and if it were on today, Mike would probably have a cell phone, and when the Stivics moved out they'd have a computer in their house.

As a teenager when the show first aired it was MIND-BLOWING compared to practically all the pablum and drivel that was on.

And not so bad networks wouldn't touch a show like AITF, because its next to impossible to re-create a masterpiece.

I hope that TV Land airs Edith Problem soon
