I was visiting a friend of mine today. He is living with his parents right now while he finishes college. His parents decided to put cement slabs near the back of their house. My friend's cousin offered to help his dad out. The cousin is really weird and rude and my friend doesn't like him at all. My friend was telling me while I was over today that his cousin gets on the different computers in the house without asking and gets onto a lot of dating sites that look really shady and he also found a print out from a sort of gross dating ad from Craiglist near one to the computers. The cousin also doesn't know a whole lot about computers I saw him almost turn off a computer just by turning off the power switch on the tower until my friend stopped him.
My friend plans to tell his parents about the sites the cousin was visiting that way he can change the DNs settings on his parents' desktop and laptops that way in the future the cousin can't access certain dating sites in the future. My friend and I both discussed this and we both are the type of people to not really trust other people on our computers and neither of us will use other people's computers. I do use my parents' computers sometimes when I visit. None of my friends or relatives ask to my computer whey they visit but there are some that I would trust if they asked. My friend is concerned mainly that his cousin might contact somebody in the wrong way and everything would get traced back to the IP.
I think of a computer as being something very personal and I like to respect other people's property the best I can.
I trust all of my family members enough to let them use my computer, but I always keep an eye on my teenage nephew. He doesn't look at pornography or go to dating sites, but I constantly need to remind him not to download programs without my permission. Also, he spends way too much time on the Internet, so I encourage him to go outside and enjoy "real life" for a while!

I trust all my family, then again there are only a hand full of people who visit and I trust all of them.

Absolutely not. My mom snooped into my stuff almost 3 years back, and now I don't trust anyone not to look at my stuff. So everything is password-protected.

A similar thing happened to a former coworker of mine a few years back when I worked at a grocery store. His stepdad snooped through his computer after that he put passwords on his computers. I do password protect my laptop when I'm traveling.

The only people I trust is my mom who has to look in her bank account, my aunt who visits sometimes as she checks her e-mail account or plays a game on the computer.
I'm the only one who uses the laptop but my eldest sister from NC will be visiting and I hope she brings her laptop because I don't want her using mine.
Not that I don't trust my sister, it's just easier for me to have mine and she have hers.
I do not trust my middle sister at all and she will never stay at my house when I and my mom aren't home.
I really should password protect my computer but my mom might forget the password if she wants to check her bank account.
Sometimes I do let my cousins use my computer but I do check on them when they come to visit when my aunt is here.

No, no one ever uses my computer but me, ever. Like Allison's, mine is password protected.

only my brother so he can play chess online. He knows nothing about computers so I know it's safe.
NEVER - EVER let anyone use your computer to check email and never check your email on someone else's computer or you're giving them the ability to hack your email account.

i have other computers they can use - NO ONE uses my personal computer.
at work I even have two computers at my desk, one that people can touch without getting vaporized on contact.

I'll let my sister in law use mine, but it's very rare she needs too, I do trust her, but other than that, nope don't trust anyone else. My computer is password protected, and I don't want anyone on my computer.
