I'm surprised it's even legal for dollar stores to sell things like pregnancy tests, sleeping pills and butt cream.

Those are pretty cool. My aunt bought a lot of Christmas stuff last year at a dollar store.

Those are really nice. I don't need to buy any nativity scenes. I always seem to get them as gifts. I think I have about 6 of them. I put 2 out every year and I rotate them every year.

I rarily go to the dollar store, if I do it's to buy bday cards. They tend to get thrown out anyway, so why spend $3 for something that will end up in the trash.

The dollar store pregnancy tests are accurate. At least they were for me.

A lot of stuff at the dollar store is better than you think it is, sometimes they even have brand names. It depends on the store, but a lot of them are really good.

thanks! i have 3 sets, the one in this thread i got from dollar tree. the figures are rather large, the size of barbie dolls. i put this set on my dining room table on the middle of my gold runner. the other is a miniature set and i put it on the window sill of my kitchen window. and the other set i put on the coffee table by my christmas tree and that is my main set.

the dollar tree one is nice, i like how the figures are painted, they have nice detail, especially on the faces. but they are very hollow and therefore fragile and i can't pack them away with the rest of the christmas decor for this reason.

yes i've used their tests too. i found them accurate but they are very old school. the kit at the dollar store i shop at requires you to use your own cup. i had no disposable cups so i had to pee in an old coffee mug then i threw it out. then you had to use the dropper. again, it was accurate but a pain in the butt.

i also buy stuff like generic tylenol there and other over the counter meds, as long as its made in the u.s. and i find they work just as well. i buy a lot of basic home supplies there as well, cleaning products etc.

I love dollar stores, the ones where I live have name brand stuff and much cheaper than in regular stores. Why go and pay 5 dollars for laundry detergent, when you can get it two or three dollars cheaper, especially for a brand like Tide or Gain

OH Nuts!

I don't know how dumb can you be @ a dollar store. The most you can lose is a dollar. Unless of course you go HOG WILD and buy umpteen items and/or are addicted to chotchkas.

I've found quite a few things at them that I really needed & that would have been much more somewheres else.

I wonder what the guy, who wrote that article, thinks you should buy dollar store... :dizzy:

I don't think I'd want to stock up on condoms there. Especially since a lot of the stuff comes out of China.

That's stunning. The colors are so vivid. It's amazing the deals that can be found at those stores. I recently bought a set of dishes for $20, service for four. They look like they came from Pier One Imports. I actually said that to the woman who was ringing up my order, and she told me that people were buying them for wedding gifts. I'm fussy, and this stoneware set is very very nice. Pretty design, a good weight, nice mugs, bowls, etc.
