I have been searching everywhere trying to at least find the name of this really cute book that I read when I was a kid. I had a bunch of the Richard Scarry books. If you don't recognize the name, you might recall these images from his picture books...
Anyway, the one I am thinking of has a story in it called "Move to the back of the bus." All these animals are trying to get onto a city bus and they are crowding the front of it so much that the top bulges out. The driver is constantly telling them to "move to the back of the bus". Finally a hippopotamus gets on and does as she is told. The whole bus tilts upward. I remember finding that so hilarious!
The reason I am remembering it now is because I was looking through one of my Richard Scarry books at my mom's house back in July. It's been driving me crazy, trying to think of the name of that other book, unless it's included in some other ones.
This morning at work, the TV was on and I noticed that there is now a Richard Scarry cartoon with the same characters! Yep, I'm 42, but I thought it was adorable!
Anyway, just wondering if any of you had any thoughts to what book this story might be in.
Andrea
PS: Feel free to discuss other childhood books as well!
