For those of you who say grace before you eat, what do you say??

I said grace at my cousin's house recently because his little boy was too shy to do it. So I said "I've got one we used to say all the time when I was a kid"...

God is great, God is good, and we thank him for our food

i say something like: "I thank God, and the Lord Jesus Christ for this bounty He's provided and for this day and ask for His blessings for all who are at this table. Amen"

We've said this table prayer my whole life:

"Come Lord Jesus,
be our guest,
and let thy gifts
to us be blessed."

This thread reminds me of a joke I heard.

Two little boys were talking at recess one day. One asked the other if his family prayed before meals. The other boy replied, "We don't have to. My mom's a god cook." :lol:

My family doesn't really say grace. I pray privately.

The grace that I learned as a kid and sometimes still use goes like this:

God is great, God is good
and we thank Him for the food
by His hand we all are fed
give us now our daily bread.

I had posted the 1st 2 lines, that's the only part I knew. I never knew there were 2 more lines!! I'll have to remember that now, maybe I'll teach it to my cousin's boys. I always felt it was simple and to the point, and so easy for a child to learn. That is why I always remembered it as a kid, and still say it as an adult.

I used to say the exact same thing.
I haven't said Grace before meals in a while though. :rolleyes:
