20 Years

I've had my mind on so many other things of late, I didn't remember until today that it was 20 years ago last week that I started junior high. How time flies, it seems just like yesterday.

Junior high was a mixed bag for me. I had a great deal of difficulty getting used to it. During the first semester of 7th grade, I earned pobably the lowest grades that I have ever recieved. My parents were not at all thrilled. It wasn't until the fourth and last quarter that I really understood what junior high was about and started to have a little fun. The first half of 8th grade was quite enjoyable too, not the second half however.

Somethings I remember fondly are the friends that I made, my first kiss, going almost the entire two years without a single haircut (:lol:) and that I went from a boy with poor reading skills to being at the top of my class when it came to reading, the Def Leappard, Van Halen and Guns N' Roses t-shirts that I always wore and the famous Star Trek-The Next Generation cliffhanger in June 1990, "The Best of Both Worlds"! :)

Middle school started for me in 6th grade. I know different states start middle school at either the sixth or seventh grade level. I started middle school 18 years ago.

That's true that school can be a mixed bag. I know for me that if I could have gone to school (middle school) seven days a week, I would have. I hated being at home. So middle school was a safe haven for me.

8 years ago for me. I do not look back on my time there fondly. Most miserable time of my life. Nothing good other than becoming close with my current friends.

I wasn't really that special though. Pretty much all the guys were listeing to both Guns N' Roses and Def Leppard, quite a few girls too. Metallica were also very big, and this before they even released their "black album". However, I was never a fan of Metallica...neither then nor now. The hallways were a sea of hard rock and heavy metal concert t-shirts in junior high. :)

I started kindergarten 40 years ago this month. Man I'm old!!!

It wasn't until I got into high school that the guy who did the morning announcements would often mention WDIZ, which at the time was the rock station here. Then I started listening to it. My best friend for a while thought that people who listened to rock music were "druggies". That was her term. I didn't say anything to her then but then she said something again in later years about people listening to rock music did drugs. This was when I was really into the rock bands and going to shows. I finally told her that I liked rock music and I don't do drugs. Never have. I'm surprised she didn't say that we all worshipped Satan, too!:crazy:

I'm a Christian and have never even tried drugs...not even once just for the experience. I've never really heard people say that if you like rock music than you must be a "druggie". Especially considering that rock music is what 99.9 % of teens listen to.

I'm going to go on record and say that 1989-1991 were better years than any we've had at anytime during this decade. Anyone agree or disagree? :)

I had a school anniversary a few weeks ago... I started high school 10 years ago, as of the end of August. :eek: :lol: (as for junior high, it's been 12 years now, so nowhere close to being 20 years like yours)

Time really does fly! It would've been so fun to have been in junior high/high school in the 80's. I envy the ones who graduated between 1986 to 1989 because they were the ones who were in junior high/high school in only one decade. It was pretty weird going to high school in one decade (even if it was at the tail end) and then graduating in a different decade. :crazy: I've gotten, "Did you start high school in 2000?" before... "Nope, I started high school in 1999." :lol:

The 6th and 7th grade werent too bad because I was living with my grandmother and uncle. The 8th grade however was pure hell. One of the worst periods of my life.
