9. Community
Premieres Thursday, September 17 on NBC
Joel McHale and Chevy Chase headline NBC’s newest single-camera comedy, which focuses on a community college and the bizarre faculty and students who go there. The series looks to be a perfect fit with the rest of the Peacock’s Thursday night line-up. As with most of the comedies either premiering or returning this fall, “Community” seems about as far away from politically correct as physically possible. Like ABC’s “The Middle,” “Hank” and “Modern Family,” and CBS’ “Accidentally on Purpose,” the show runs the risk of asking too much of viewers who seem intent on choosing between procedural dramas and reality television. Here’s hoping at least half of the new comedies this fall survive.
