I always like the first few years of Flinstones, the drawings of Fred and Barney were funnier as well as the situations they would get themselves into.

my favorites:

1) Fred & Barney go in together on a backyard pool. Of course there is a misunderstanding between the two about how the pool should be used, leading to a fued between the two.

funniest part: Barney gets his nose slammed in between a couple of boards by Fred on the fence line he is using to serperate the boundries. Also when Fred let's go of a board that first snaps Barney off into the pool (as intended), then flys back, and hits Fred sending him flying (as unintended)

2) Fred and Barney scheme of a way to get out of going with Wilma & Betty to a concert/event of some kind.

They fake the girls out as Fred having a serious illness, so Fred is "sick" in bed, while Barney stays with Fred to "take care" of him.

Funniest part: Girls come back home, Barney turns around yapping off at the girls with the fake moustache he was wearing (along with Fred) at the bowling alley they were at, when Wilma and Betty surprised them.

Barney unwittingly uses his accent as well, and they are busted. Fred appropriately says:

"YOUUUUU... DOPE!"

Next thing you know, the boys took off in Barney's aircraft contraption, and Wilma and Betty are outside on a bench with clubs, playing cards, while waiting for Barney to run out of "gas".

3) Fred gets involved in a gambling hall ring in Bedrock, with most of the town's other fathers there gambling as well, with their kids there, supposively out taking the kids for a "stroll" as far as the wives know.

I like the following ones-

1.Where Fred discovers some old love letters and thinks Wilma is cheating.

2. Whe Wilma is giving birth to Pebbles and Fred is rushing to the hospital.

3. When Dino goes to Hollyrock.

I also liked the episode in which Fred causes a flood at Barney's house, and then insists that Betty and Barney stay with them rather than going to a motel.

Best part of that episode was when Fred was trying to sleep in the chairs in the living room, and the chairs kept snapping shut around Fred's neck, and his tongue stuck out like a diving board that someone just jumped off of.

I also liked the Baseball episode where Roger Marble takes Fred's place in the compnay baseball game, and the pro scouts (Leo Ferocious and Casey Strangle) mistake Fred for Roger, because Roger was wearing Fred's uniform (and uniform number).

There were actually several good episodes built around baseball.

Also, there were a # of good episodes centered around Fred coming into some money (usually poker winnings) and then cooks up schemes to hide the evidence from Wilma ("hey nephew, how do you spell Shimmelstone?").

I really loved this show.

Many years passed before I realized they were sending up Roger Maris, Leo Durocher, and Casey Stengel. I agree that the baseball episodes were amng the better ones. :)

BUT:

My favorite was the "Indianrockolis" episode: Fred races in the Indy 500!

Fred and Barney are at the top of their games here; Barney proves to be an expert race car builder, another Ferry Porsche; Fred puts his experience driving home from work on the freeway to good use; they set a new speed record with the "Rubstone Special" race car in the qualifying run; and Fred (as Goggles Paisano) wins the Indy 500!!!!!!!!!! And they do it all to win $50,000 for their kids' college funds! :)

But then he gets disqualified because he had to walk the Rubstone car across the finish line when the wheels chip off rather than have the car finish the race with its own power. :(

But Fred and Barney come out smelling like roses because they earn enough money to start their kids' college funds by making a TV commercial for a different brand of wheels. :) A happy ending for everyone, and-a Goggles Paisano a-hangs up his-a goggles . . . on Barney's nose. :D
