Where were you when LITB was on the air?

Just wondering where everyone else was when LITB was first shown on network TV...

I was born shortly after the beginning of Season Six, so I was a baby during the show's final season. My family was living in the Westside area of Los Angeles at the time. Whenever I look at old family pictures in my photo albums, I always see something that makes me think of LITB -- the clothes that my parents and older siblings are wearing, the early 1960s hairstyles, the big American cars parked on the streets, and everything else.

I wish I could say that I watched the show every week back then, but hey...I was just a baby! :lol:

I wasn't born yet! I was born in 1964 the year after LITB went off the air. So I've only enjoyed the show in reruns.

I was born in December, 1958, so I was around for most of the original episode runs. But my first memories of the show are when the early episoes were already in reruns, probably network reruns rather than syndication. In that way I can remember "The Pipe" and "Beaver Won't Eat" (the Brussels sprouts ep). But the only ep I am sure I can remember from 'primetime' is "Night in the Woods." I remember being at my grandparents' house, next door to ours, and Eddie being on that ledge. Even with such limited memories I wanted to see the show for years, I recall, until a local independent station finally picked it up when I was in the 6th grade, and then I watched it almost every afternoon. Later another station or 2 picked it up, so by the time I was in high school, being especially interested in the eps about Wally driving and taking part time jobs, I realized I knew [i]every episode. So, for about 35 years I have known them all, but even so I will watch one on TVLand when I happen to find it, and I have 30-40 recordings. Beaver and Wally are like childhood friends spared the responsibilities and difficulties of reaching adulthood. I wasn't, of course, but I suppose that's my fantasy about the show; that I can "return to those thrilling days of yesteryear," as the Lone Ranger intro used to say. And LITB, unlike the LR, those years really were much like I remember.

I was born in 1967, but my first memory of watching LITB was probably in the 70's with my dad. I remember it came on at 7pm, but I have no idea what station.

I was born in 1958. I don't recall watching LITB until maybe the 1970's and I have loved the show ever since. I do remember dressing the way they did, hairstyles and all. The cars were cool too. The best times!

Actually, I remember watching the 80s version of the show before I ever saw the original! I remember Eddie with his sons (who were also played by Ken Osmond's real life sons!! :cool:) - they were so funny!!

I didnt come into this world until 1974 so I missed the show the first time around. I saw the reruns when I was about 8 and have been hooked ever since.

I was born in August of 1959, I don't remember if I watched the reruns as a youngster or not, as far as I remember, I didn't start to watch the show until
my late 30's or early 40's, but when they were on, I couldn't get enough of it.
it just cracked me up, I can relate to "Leave It To Beaver" because I did and said some of the same things when I was growing up.

I was born in 1965 so I wasn't born yet. My first memories of watching the show was watching it in reruns during the 1970's.

I was ten years old, in 1957, when the series began its first season, on CBS.
But, because the only channel we received on our set was an NBC affiliate
(that also carried a few ABC shows), I didn't see Leave It to Beaver
until it moved to ABC, in 1958. So, I became a fan during its second season.

Back then depending on where you lived, most people only got two channels. It wasnt until the early 60's that more homes got a third channel.

I was a toddler...too young at the time to watch or appreciate the show. Didn't really start watching it til late 60s & 70s thru synd.

I wasn't born yet. But I've long since believed I was born in the wrong decade. I love Black and White films, 50 and 60s sitcoms. Things were so much easier back then, mostly because folks trusted each other and there wasn't a lot of crime mentioned, in fact, in DVD, LITB, and Mister Ed, there wasn't ANY crime mentioned. Though ED had a series with someone broken into Wiburs house to steal Carol's birthday present... other than that, there was no crime in these shows, none that I recall.

I'm glad these shows are not "dated." It's good to look back on life when things were so much more "simpler."

Why have they changed so much? One reason: they took the Bible out of schools, and also out of the Pledge of Allegience. Everyone is on their "own" now. What a shame!

But just the same, it's good to have these memories of how things WERE, and times we can "go back to" ... happier, far less chaotic times!

I was born in 1970. The first time I ever watched Beaver was way back in the early 80's- My parents took me along to visit friends, I was the only kid there so I watched their satellite TV(back when they had the humongous dishes)....the episode was In The Soup.

I wasn't born yet either but I had family that introduced me to the classics. I love a lot of them but LITB is my favorite. I feel good after watching the show. I have a 12 year old nephew who I inroduced to Beaver, Lucy, Mister Ed, Gilligan ect.. He was slow at first but now he loves to watch them too. I think he will show these dvd's to his kids as well. How great is that?
