David Goyer seems to have a lot on his plate. He's currently working on "Flash Forward" for ABC and is lining up other projects following The Unborn, like The Invisible Man that we always hear a lot about. He's also still attached to direct X-Men Origins: Magneto, at least for the time being. We've known that for a very long time (since 2007). And with Fox actively developing a Wolverine sequel, Deadpool spin-off, and X-Men: First Class spin-off, it would make sense they're looking into this as well. "They're still thinking about doing it," Goyer recently told MTV. "They're definitely looking into doing other X-Men spinoffs."

While Goyer doesn't say much, he at least tries to be hopeful, as always. "I've been in touch with them. I'm sure that project will move forward in the next year or so." Whether or not that will actually happen, well, that's another story. Not that I don't trust Goyer, it's just that the Magneto origins movie has been "moving forward" for the last three years without actually moving forward. Oddly, IMDb now lists V for Vendetta director James McTeigue as a co-director, but it seems just odd that Fox would choose two directors for this, even if it would result in a fantastic movie in the end. Who knows how his name got added on there?

So for now, I'd say it's best to remain hopeful that we'll see a Magneto movie sometime in the next few years. Back in April, producer Lauren Shuler Donner said that it would depend on Wolverine's success. And before that, it was rumored that it would be shooting this year, which never happened. So we'll keep our eyes open for more updates, if they arrive anytime soon.
