View Full Version : Actors you just can't stand
There are some very talented artists out there, and some that for whatever reason, just rub you the wrong way. Not that we mean any harm, but sometimes it's good to vent your frustrations. This thread is dedicated to that purpose.
For me, the top of my list is Emmy-winner Patricia Clarkson. I just don't get what's so wonderful about her. She's not that attractive, (in fact, I find her kind of scary looking), she's got an annoying voice, and for some reason that I'll never understand, she gets cast in everything and wins every award. I don't wish the woman any harm... I just want her to go away.
Number two on my list is Tony-winner Audra McDonald. Yeah, she's got a good voice and can act, but I find her to be irritating beyond belief. To be fair, it's not that she's ever turned in a lousy performance, it's just that she's EVERYWHERE onstage. She's appearing in this, starring in that, special guest star here, performing as... Gah! I'm just so sick of seeing her name! And every year she's nominated for a Tony for something or other. It's like she's her own category: the Whatever-Show-Audra's-In-This-Year nomination.

Jane Fonda
Young Jane Fonda I really liked, from "Barefoot in the Park" and "9 to 5" it's just recent Jane Fonda (Monster in Law) that irritates me.
Oh, and how could I forget Josh Hartnett? OMG, how can this guy still have a career after "Pearl Harbor" and "The Black Dahlia"?

Tom Cruise
Katie Holmes
Helen Hunt
Kelly Preston
Tom is a loudmouth whackjob and Helen Hunt is a TERRIBLE actress. Katie was never much of an actress either, but now she's just an annoying mess. I can't really say what it is about Kelly Preston that I don't like, but I just find her to be obnoxious.

I agree with you all about Tom Cruise even though I like both Born On The Fourth of July and All The Right Moves.
I have to admit I cant stand George Clooney because in my opinion I think he is a terrible actor.
I really dont like Will Farrell, Adam Sandler, and these other Saturday Night Live comedians. I dont find them funny at all.

I hate Will Farrell. Never found him funny, just strange. He's not funny, he's not attractive, he's not a good actor, so why is he paid millions of dollars? My one consolation: Land of the Lost was a huge BOMB! America might finally be outgrowing him.

I never liked Hartnett or Cruise, either. Both of them seem like they are always playing the same role. Most of their roles are people I know the writers expect me to like, but seem to come off so cocky and smug I just want to punch them. Plus neither have any range whatsoever; same two or three facial expressions for every role. Ugh.
There was an actor from the 80's whom I think has disappeared (thank God) that I always felt the same way about. His name was Christopher Collett, and he was in "The Manhatten Project" and "Firstborn". Like the above two, he played characters who we were supposed to root for but I just loathed for their arrogance. I honestly think it was the actor, not the script, lol.
Others include Adam Sandler, Michael Keaton (not a bad guy, but WAY too hyper in every role), and the pinnacle of wretchedness, Mr. Pauley Shore.puke:

Not a Farrell fan, but what do looks have to do with it? IMO, some of the best actors/actresses I've watched wouldn't be considered attractive.

I will also add Martin Lawrence, Will Smith and Chris Rock to my list. They are only not funny but extremly annoying. They are too willing to throw away their dignity to play clowns.
Nicolas Cage and David Schwimmer. They are both soooo whiney! I get so sick of hearing their voices.

Oh I agree - there are plenty of great character actors who aren't necessarily gorgeous... but as long as I was listing his faults, I thought I may as well add that to the list. I get sick to my stomach when I see him kissing someone onscreen.

another performer who is famous for starring in one show- in this case greys anatomy and nothing else. i don't even watch the show, nor am i familiar with her and yet she is so hyped up. don't see what all the fuss is about.
also meg ryan. plays the same role in almost every film she's been in, plus i don't recall her ever appearing an 'blockbuster' movie that did really well.

'Blockbuster' maybe not, but she really was the queen of romantic comedies from the late 80s to early 90s.
When Harry Met Sally... French Kiss... Sleepless in Seattle... Kate and Leopold...
But I wouldn't go to see any of her current movies. I think she reached her peak 10 years ago.

i think that ever since he hooked up with cruise, his ego got too big for his boots. it beggars belief that movies as awful as 'i am legend', 'hancock' were, it still rakes in millions of dollars for him, but hey this is how hollywood and the box office works these days. sadly that is.
