There is a bit of an argument on this one. I say "Ed" is an hour-long comedy or even a "dramedy," but is NOT a sitcom in the vernacular sense of the word. I was raised to think of sit coms as half-hours shows where everything gets tied together at the end. Any expert opinions out there???
Its a pretty damn good show!!
I dont think its a Sitcom in the traditional sense of the word.

I think it's like Providence or Sisters- Drama with a little comedy to lighten things up.I think shows like that are closer to reality than either strictly comedy or drama.

Or more like comedy with a little drama.
It's not traditional, but I vote it's a situation comedy.

WIthe the first few episodes, I've changed my mind. More drama than comedy. Hopefully they'll get back to the funnier side and not just use Phil and company as the token comic relief.

I was crossing through the current sitcoms listing, and I saw Ed as a sitcom. I made a similar assumption thinking that this is a drama, but according to what you all are saying, it has a little humor, therefore it belongs here as a sitcom. I have never watched the show, myself, so I don't know if it is good or not. I guess sitcoms don't always have to have laugh-tracks or live audiences, do they? Just look at Malcom in the Middle! :D
