facebook, twitter and my space

can someone explain something to me? How do you look up people on Facebook? I have some people I haven't seen in years, but every time I look them up, I type in the name, click on SEARCH but I get 2 or 3 pages of the person, and I don't know which one (if any) is the person I want, espessialy if there's no picture in the profile. My brother and sister have done it and had sucsess; in fact my brother met a couple people from his old school, and met them for dinner.
So, am I doing something wrong or what?

Sometimes I think your only way to tell is to send them a message and ask like, Hey, are you the Bob who went to Central High? I had someone send me a message like that once. Some people might be annoyed I guess, but I just replied NO and went on with my day.
