I'm getting two wisdom teeth out tommorrow. One has grown out, and the other hasn't. Can anyone tell me what to expect? :o

I had my wisdom teeth out, plus two separate jaw surgeries. You will definitely swell up and you'll have to eat soft foods for a few days. I found ice cream or frozen yogurt helps a lot. I don't remember being in much pain though, but everybody is different. Good luck :D

I'm hoping to get mine out asap!

I had all 4 of mine taken out at once, and was more groggy and nauseous than in pain. But since you're only having 2 taken out, it probably won't feel as bad. Just try to get as much rest as you can and get used to a soft food diet!!

I was born without wisdom teeth so I have never had extraction experience. But all the people who I know who have had their wisdom teeth extracted had different experiences. Some swelled up and others didn't as much. One of my friends was able to eat solid foods after two days. Some people have a high tolerance for pain and some don't.

I haven't gotten mine pulled, and don't plan to. lol. Only one of them has grown in (just the tip of it though), so I don't think I'll ever get them out.
A lot of my friends have gotten theirs removed though. After the extraction all depends on the person. A friend of mine just had hers removed a month ago and she was swollen for a day, but was completely fine 24 hours later-no pain, no nothing.
Just be prepared to eat a lot of liquids and frozen drinks. Jamba Juice!
Good luck! Hope all goes well! :)

Hope your surgery goes well. I don't have fond memories of mine, but I don't want to post any of the details since you haven't had your surgery yet. I don't remember being in too much pain, though.

They sure knocked me out!! I had all of mine taken out at once, too. I was so groggy and nauseous - but never really in pain, if that makes any sense.

Same here. I wasnt in any pain, but my mouth was numb and I was so out of it that I barely remember my mother driving me home.

Ditto. I kept leaning forward while my mom was driving and she had to gently push me back to keep my head from falling into the gearshift.

I had all four of mine removed when I was 28. I do not recommend waiting that long!!! For those of you who are saying, you don't want to have them out and hope you won't have to...ask your dentist for advice and if it is recommended that you have them removed do it soon!!! I waited far too long and I had to have them out because they kept breaking through my gums and then going back up and the inside of my mouth was so cut up and swollen. When I had them removed they knocked me out and it wasn't pleasant, but I thought that would be the end of it. When I woke up, I was numb obviously, and very sick. I remember the oral surgeon saying that my roots were tangled in the nerves and he had a hard time removing them, but I was so groggy I didn't realize what that meant. Well, here it is five years later and I still have no feeling on the lower right side of my mouth and minimal feeling on the upper right. I have serious nerve damage and every so often get shooting pains through my mouth and tongue. I have been to the dentist/oral surgeon numerous times for these issues but there is nothing they can do. I was told if I had them removed when I was 18 or so this would not have happened.

^ I had mine taken out about a month before I turned 18, so it's probably the ideal age to get them out. I'd worn braces and just had them removed a couple of years earlier, and that's why they wanted my wisdom teeth out ASAP.

I'm starting to show a bruise on my cheek...is that normal? My mom says it means its healing more.

It is completely normal. When the surgeon is digging around in there to remove the teeth it is sort of them same as punching your cheek over and over again from the inside. A bruise is part of the healing process.

Yes, that's normal. It happened to me, too.
