When you moved out of your parents house? And how much money did you have to your name?

I was 26 when I moved out. I didn't have a lot of money to my name but I was working sio I had a regular paycheque coming in and I had roomates which helped.

I'm 22 and I'm still living at my parents' house. A lot of my friends moved away and into the dorms for college, but I've always been living at home.

I was 20 when I moved out. I had about $3,000 in savings when I moved out.

I was 23 when I moved out. (Of course, somebody mentioned college, and I stayed in the dorms then, albeit only from sophomore-senior year; I went to the local campus at Miami University's Hamilton campus for my first year before going to the main campus in Oxford.)

As for how much I had, I don't remember, but I was pulling in a good enough paycheck for it not to be a concern.

I was 18. I had no money saved up, but I did have a job. I was also going to college. I did just fine. Of course, before I moved out my dad made me pay rent and half the bills so I was used to it.

18!? I feel like a real loser now. ;) That's actually unheard around here.

If there was a Sitcoms Online award for "the most lame member" I think I would win it. I turned 33 last week and I still live at home. Mind you, I was all ready to move out last March but could not becuae I started to fear I was going to be laid off...which happened. I know two members of my graduating class that live near me who also still live at home (one with a kid) but they are only 32. Next year at this time I am going to be on my own even if I have to live with six rooomates!

I was 21 when I moved out. My mom was living with this guy who was a total jackass and I think at that point it was the best thing for me to move out. My dad helped me with my rent and stuff by giving me checks every month, but I was working as well. I moved across town and my apartment was actually closer to my grandparents house than my mom's house was. That was really cool because I got to see them more often.

Don't feel like a loser. I wish I had a family who would have appreciated and accepted me staying at home longer and given me a chance to save money so I could make it better on my own. I had no choice but to move out at 18. My dad was a little odd (okay...he was a jerk,) and he made me pay rent and utilities from the second I got my first job at 16. He felt like if I was working then I should contribute. I also did all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. So I figured if I was going to do all of that I might as well live on my own. So when I went to college I lived briefly in the dorms, then I got my own apartment and worked to pay my own bills. Unfotunately I was not aware that my dad had put all of their bills in my name and when I quit helping him pay them he ran them up and it ruined me financially. In fact, I am still paying on some of those bills.

Ironically, since my father passed away, my mother has moved in with me. She drives me insane and I really wish she had the money to take care of herself so she could live on her own. It makes me feel guilty to think that way though because I love my mom and she lives on disability so she really can't take care of herself financially or physically. I feel like I am back in highschool, taking care of everyone for little to no appreciation. :(

 Have fun with your six roommates Mike!

Seriously though, I have a friend who is almost 34 and he lives at home with his parents. He has a professional career too, and makes decent money. He could easily have moved out before now but doesn't because it is easier to stay at home. At least you want to move out and are making the effort. I don't think it is lame that you are staying with your parents until you get back on your feet financially and have a stable job. You worry too much! Of course I understand the desire to be on your own, so I wish you luck with that!!!

I was 19. I don't remember how much money I had, but I did have a job. A girl at my job had a house, her boyfriend moved out and she needed help with the rent, and had 2 extra bedrooms. So another co-worker & I moved in. Then it just went from there.

There's nothing lame about that. It looks like you feel comfortable with your living situation. I give you thumbs up for being able to endure your parents. They must be really great people. I mean, I loved my parents but I don't think I could live with them into my 20's & 30's.

That's OK, I have a friend who is 42 and still lives at home. She's been wanting to move out for years but never seems to have enough money to do so. She also has had some health-related issues, which further hinders her. It just got to the point to where her parents are getting up there in age, and she takes care of them now.

But hey, like I said, you shouldn't feel "lame" because of the way things are going with you. Whatever works for you.;)

Right behind ya babe.

My mom likes having me here though. I'm an only child and my dad works nights, so she appreciates the company I think.

Besides, I'm the last person who should be living alone and I don't do too well with roommates. I wanted to kill my college roommate by the time the year was over. lol

LOL! I had no money. I got married and left home at 18. My husband was only making just over $100.00 a week at GM at the time.(1968) We lived in a an old mobile home for a couple of years. After my daughter was born he decided we needed more money so he went on an apprenticeship at GM and after receiving his jouneyman's card he made good money . We were able to buy our home after 6 years of marriage and we have lived here ever since.

I first moved out when I was 21, but I did have to move back home a couple of times. However I have been out for quite some time, and have no intentios of ever moving back home.

I had just turned 26. My car was paid off and I had no debts, plus a couple thousand in savings. I'd just gotten a promotion and was making significantly more money, plus the job was an hour away from my folks house, so moving made sense at that point in time. :)
