C-Murder may have been born Corey Miller but the US rapper is now forever synonymous with his rap persona. In fact, it looks like he couldn't have chosen a better name, judging by the verdict reached by a court in Louisiana. He has been convicted of second-degree murder for the 2002 shooting of a teenage fan and will serve a mandatory life sentence after the jury returned a 10-2 verdict on the second day of deliberations.

Back in 2005, Miller reportedly told USA Today his stage name stood for "See Murder", after the killings he had seen growing up in a tough New Orleans neighbourhood. Well, that's exactly what many people witnessed outside a nightclub in Harvey when 16-year-old Steven Thomas was gunned down after taking part in a rapping contest. His killer was found guilty of second-degree murder in 2003 and spent three years in jail, before winning this month's retrial.

The dead boy's father, George Thomas, told reporters outside the court: "I'm not rejoicing. I feel bad for (Miller's) family. But at least they can see him. What have we got but a gravesite and a photograph", he said. Miller has been in prison since May, when he pleaded no contest to two separate counts of attempted murder following an earlier gun-fight outside a Baton Rouge nightclub in 2001, which was caught on the CCTV footage below. And what is it they say about art imitating life?

So why would this dirtbag feel the need to KILL a teen rapper at a contest? Jealousy?

Nice to see that rappers are doing all they can to dispel the notion that they are not violent thugs and actually nice examples of fine, upstanding human beings. ohno:
