How do yall feel about this?
Myself I am totally agaisnt this basically you should hire somebody because they are the most qualified and not because of their color. Also this causes more problems instead of solutions.

When I first saw this title I thought it had something to do with the New Age idea of positive affirmations - repeating yourself that you can be, and are, successful, that you have what you need and want, etc. I am all for the New Age practice.
However, with the actual topic of this thread - I agree with Mickey's views. Colour shouldn't be a factor in hiring someone - people should be hired if they meet the right criteria.

well being chinese myself, most would assume i'd be for it but actually, i am totally against it. one's ethnicity should not be a basis for hiring someone for a job. race is irrelevant. skills, qualifications, knowledge on the other hand are more relevant and important and these should be taken into account.

I'm againist it. Race shouldn't be considered a merit when it comes to education and career.

I am completely against affirmative action. It does a lot more harm than good. Using race as a factor is a form of racism. It doesn't end racism-it allows it to continue.

What I am about to say isnt toward anybody here but I wonder if some people who are for affirmative action wouldnt mind giving up their job that they worked hard for and went to school to get, would they mind giving up their job to a minority member who has no experience or training what so ever??
They are for affirmative action arent they??

Exactly! It just changes the focus of the racism. Try finding a job if you are a white male these days!
I don't believe the color of one's skin should have any bearing on any decision. To say otherwise seems to me to be implying that there is a difference.
The fact that we now have an African-American president says just how little Affirmative Action is needed nowadays.

Affirmative action pisses me off so much. Two wrongs do not make a right.

It's so-called reverse discrimination, a term I think is stupid, but anyway...
Qualifications!!!! How does your skin do a job? Oh yeah, it doesn't!
If Halle Berry and I were up for the same job - who do you really think has the advantages?
