I am having upper jaw surgery this Tuesday (the 28th). I'm really nervous about it. I'm going to be on a liquid diet for several weeks. I had the first surgery back in April '08 where they expanded my upper jaw and I had to wear a palate expander for 7 months. I also had to get braces, which I'll have to wear for a couple of more months.
I keep telling myself I'll get through this and I'll have a much better bite and hopefully a better appearance after this is all over. It's still going to be tough. I should have had this done as a teen, but the orthodontist I went to back then totally misdiagnosed my problem. The braces I wore for 4 years did absolutely nothing because it was my jaw that was crooked.

You'll make it through with flying colors!
I'd say one positive would be that you lost weight, but I don't think you need to. Hopefully you at least get pampered.

I've been looking up recipes on nutritious smoothies, soups, and stuff and found some delicious-looking ones. At least chocolate comes in liquid form :D
Has anyone else gone through this or know someone who has? Please keep sending those positive thoughts my way.

I wish you a very speedy recovery and I hope there is very little pain after the surgery (which I hope goes well).
As I write this, I see that today is Tuesday the 28th. I'll be thinking about you today.

Same here Kristen. Here I was feeling a bit sorry for myself having to have yet another tooth pulled yesterday, but you're going through so much more. I hope it's all worth the end result and your bite will be perfect!
At least it's a great excuse to live on chocolate milkshakes for the next few weeks! ;)
Keep all good thoughts!

Is that TMJ Syndrome? I have that too, but have never progressed to the point where I needed the surgery.
I'm glad you are doing well, and best of luck in your recovery! :)

I went in Tuesday morning and came home Wednesday afternoon. I don't have TMJ. I had a severe open overbite that couldn't be fixed by braces alone.
