Hard to watch what 14 small children are getting their hands on.

yeah, exactly. aside from her idiotic decision though, i don't think her motherhood should be judged over this alone. i'm sure we all got senselessly injured or ill at some point as children when it was preventable. me, i almost drowned in a hot tub and got a frickin hole in my head.

I'm not surprised by this. I do hope the kid is ok. Maybe the Octomom doesn't have her house childproofed.

Dosen't surprise me in the least. I know of at least 4 people (now adults) who ingested weird stuff as kids - they all turned out OK.

 I was going to ask how you met my brother, but then again, you also said they turned out o.k. and he's a jerk so it couldn't be him. ;)

Apparently he drank some sort of Salt-based solution, according to TMZ

I hate TMZ, they are a bunch of punks to say the least, but I hope the kid is ok. Wonder what substance it was though.
Yes, TMZ is very sleazy but they are usually right on target. Didn't they break the Michael Jackson story first - when he was first rushed to the hospital?

I have an aunt and an uncle who both swallowed stuff they shouldn't have when they were kids.

 Sounds like the uncle I just mentioned. He swallowed bleach. I think it must have turned him into an *******.

When I was about 5 I got into my mom's blood pressure pills (I thought they were candy) and gave some to my sister, too. My mom was pregnant and I think she was in the bathroom at the time. Once she realized what happened, she immediately got Poison Control on the phone and had the give both of us ipecac to throw the pills up. My grandma and great-grandma rushed right over to help since my dad was at work. My mom's pregnancy with my brother was already high risk and it's a wonder she didn't go into labor then and there.

Needless to say, I got a good talking to (my sister was only 2 and was spared the talk) and I never did anything like that again. My parents made sure to keep any and all medications on the high shelf above the kitchen sink, out of our reach. I'm also careful with the medications I take today. God definitely had angels working overtime with us that day.

I know - it was a blessing. My mom was almost 41 at that point in a very high risk pregnancy. Thankfully, my brother was born with no problems and I think my mom came away from the whole experience with just a few more gray hairs!!

 Every gray hair on our parents' heads are our fault. Or in my dad's case, his lack of hair.

Wow, that's terrible! You guys are right. It was just a matter of time before something like this happened. I mean, geez, with 14 kids or however many she has how can it not happen? I do hope the kid is okay, but I think reality may be starting to settle in for her.

Here's a true but hilarious story about myself. I think I must have been about 8 or so. One night I was at the dinner table with my parents and I thought it would be funny to stick a piece of corn up my nose.    I showed my parents and OMG, they freaked out and rushed me to the hospital! I still remember lying there while the doctor tried to get it out! When my parents asked me how it happened, I told them that it was the wind!!   At the time I thought it was hilarious!!!

My dad is bald, too, but he was balding LONG before he had kids. He can't pin that on us.

Great story, Andrea. When I was about 7, my mom was holding a garage sale and was selling her old golf clubs. She was sorting things out and getting ready to set everything up. I was playing with the clubs in the apron of our driveway. There were also a bunch of tees in the bag. I still don't know why I did this - but I stuck the sharp end of one of the tees up my chin. Blood started to flow immediately and I started screaming. My mom and sister immediately came running. I needed to have 10 stitches in my chin, and these were the days before dissolving stitches. I had to go back and have them taken out. Over 20 years later, my chin is still sensitive. I don't know how I could've been so stupid - but I'm still paying the price!! :(
