The world is now a GHETTO, everyone is hustling everybody

There was not one MJ CD under $20.00. I wanted an old song-"got to be there" and it was $25.00 for the CD. FYE can kiss my A$$

I AM SO DONE

This doesn't surprise me one bit, Some idiot on eBay paid over $1000 for an used copy of the Thriller Lp which will probably be obtainable at flea markets for under 5 bucks once all the hoopla dies down.

I'm not surprised stores are selling MJ's music for higher prices.

There's big money to be made from his music now and the stores are going to take advantage of this cash cow while they can.

I really want to get a copy of Thriller on CD, but I may wait a while. All this publicity reminds me of when Princess Diana died. It was almost surreal, her death, being that she was in the media every minute. I didn't think there could be any more publicity until she died, but I was so wrong. I'm glad for now it's calmed down quite a bit.

I'm not surprised one bit. CD sales on Ebay are insane, even for used ones. Some of the buying prices start at $25 or $30.

Ditto. I had it on cassette, but I've been wanting it on CD for a while, just never got around to getting it. But I too am planning on just waiting a couple of months.

the world has gone mad indeed:rolleyes: . considering the current and dire economic and employment situations in the US and UK, people are so desperate they are willing to hike up the prices. in life nothing is for free- and yet most people are unable to afford the things they want, especially because of the credit crunch and financial problems they are having to deal with.

Does youtube have the song? I'm sure they would.

Making a profit from his death, it's sickening

A few nights ago I had a headache and I couldn't sleep and I saw a commercial to be a Michael Jackson coin and plate set. Companies and businesses are trying to find various ways to profit from MJ's death. This morning I went grocery shopping and there various books and magazines about MJ.

Thats something to say the least. Before his passing you could find his records at any record store for cheap (we're talking like 5 bucks at the most), now because of his passing people are spending huge bucks for his records on ebay when they could still go to a record store and get them for cheap.

Although I don't condone downloading (I do a lot of it myself) MJ is one of the artists that I don't download, I actually buy his music physically. Anyway, if anyone wants the albums for cheap, Wal-Mart and Target have them on sale by the barrelful at $8.98 right now. I now have Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad on CD. I still need to get Dangerous. Have had all of them on cassette for years but never had a chance to buy the CDs. The only thing I hate about these "special editions" is that a lot of the tracks are now 7" or 12" single mixes of the singles.

Mall stores like FYE routinely overprice their CDs anyway, so this doesn't surprise me.

What does surprise me is how those stores are still in business. To charge $18 for a single CD is just insanity. And in some cases, like the Michael Jackson CDs, it's even higher.

I see FYE has made some slight changes to KEEP the customers coming in and staying in so that it will lead to a purchase. Now I see inside FYE there are tables where you can sit down and put headhones on your head and listen to music. The next thing will be a s,mall cafe in the back-lol

Hmm...that sounds familiar.

I will go into FYE and listen to music. Then, I'll go buy the CD at Best Buy or online for several dollars cheaper.

I'm confident that since people like to hang in FYE, they will add a small cafe in there somewhere. It's so many people in there who have that-"I'm not going anywhere anytime soon" look-lol

And in the Winter, IT"S PACKED like a CLUB

I'll take your word for it, as I almost never go to those places. I'm not big on malls and those places are so overpriced, they aren't even worth browsing in for me.

I never buy CD's from FYE. The FYE stores in my cities tend have a good selection of tv DVD sets, iPod accessories and similar stuff. I have boughten a lot of horror movie boxed sets from there which I never find in other stores. Those are the only reasons I shop there.

I saw this article awhile about how since MJ's death 9 million albums have been sold worldwide

This is somewhat related to this topic. On Inside Edition, they had reporters trying to buy scalped memorial tickets for Michael Jackson. When they showed up, the reporters told the person that they were from Inside Edition and asked why they were making money off of him because the tickets were supposed to be free. One girl just laughed, got in her car, and drove right away.

I didn't see that episode of Inside Edition but I remember on CNN right after they interviewed a young woman from the L.A. area who was given tickets to the memorial from a woman from Alabama. The woman in Alabama entered the online lottery even thought she wasn't sure she would be attend to attend. She won the tickets but then realized she couldn't afford to fly to California so she decided to give them away for free because she didn't like the idea of people of selling tickets to profit from MJ's death. She went on Craiglist and found an ad from the L.A. woman saying that she was fan of MJ and didn't want to pay money for tickets. The Alabama woman contacted her and sent her the tickets.

I find it really sad that people who won memorial tickets on the lottery decided to use to make money.
