A&E Working on a "Jackson Family" Reality Show!

A&E is working on a reality project with the Jackson family which could gain newfound viewer interest in the wake of the King of Pop's death.

The network commissioned a one-hour special following Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy that was originally intended to serve as a "backdoor pilot" for a potential series. The project was commissioned months ago and producers have finished shooting footage that followed Jackson family members as they readied a new album and reunion tour.

A&E planned to air the result as a special, tentatively titled "The Jackson Family," next year, taking a "wait and see" approach and gauging viewer reaction before deciding whether to order the project as a series.

After Michael's unexpected death last month and subsequent intensive media coverage, the question for A&E becomes: What now?

Producers have not shot any additional footage with the family since Jackson's death, leaving the network with a project that's still attractive -- one that uses footage and interviews capturing the current incarnation of the Jackson 5 as entertainers, entrepreneurs and family members -- yet also has a glaring narrative omission hanging over its current form.

A&E's special will almost certainly have to change to reflect recent events. But the network has not yet decided the best course of action.

"We have started discussing internally and with the family but have not yet decided what direction to take with the show," said A&E executives, in a statement. "We are respecting the family's wishes right now, and at the appropriate time we will all decide what direction this program to take, so stay tuned."

The situation is not entirely unlike TLC's recent wrangling of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," where the collapse of the Gosselins' marriage disrupted the previously agreed-upon "reality" of the reality show.

They showed some clips of it last night during a ABC Primetime Special on MJ. The clips showed Katherine with her grandchildren and a lot of Joe talking about the music business.

A&E has decided to go forward with a reality series featuring Michael Jackson’s brothers, says The Hollywood Reporter’s Showbiz411 blog.

The brothers filmed a one-hour pilot that was to have included a reunion with Michael, who died before they were able to convince him to do it. A&E has decided to go forward anyway, but the series will take a different turn, showing the brothers as they deal with their brother’s death. A&E declined to comment.

The pilot could air on A&E in the next month, sources told blog author Roger Friedman.

I read about this and i'm glad to hear about it because i've always been a Jacksons fan and i feel that Michael's brothers don't get a lot of credit for being musically talented. It will be good to see what Michael's brothers are doing now. Brian, you know what day it's gonna come on and at what time? Is it gonna be for a hour or 30 minutes? The Jacksons are gonna do another album? That'll be interesting. They haven't recorded together since Victory album. Well actually Victory was the last album Michael did with them but their last album was 2300 Jackson Street and surprisingly Marlon wasn't on the album.

I read a article about The Jacksons reality show in the newspaper yesterday. It's gonna come on December 13th at 9pm which is on a Sunday. That sucks because it comes on the same time as Desperate Housewives and i watch Desperate Housewives. I hope it doesn't come on every Sunday at 9pm. Michael's brothers are gonna be on Larry King's show on CNN Monday. I guess they're gonna talk about the show. I'm gonna check out Larry's show to see what they're talking about. I noticed it looks like Randy isn't gonna be on the reality show. I didn't see him in the commercial. Did ya'll hear about their father Joe wants some of Michael's estate? Hahahahahahahahahahaha. He can forget about that because he knows Michael hated him.

I've watched a few episodes and i'm not gonna watch it anymore because it's stupid for them to do a album and a tour without Michael. They should know that nobody is gonna buy a album from them and see them in concert without Michael. So why are they wasting their time? The couple of songs that i've heard so far while they were in the studio suck. Marlon and Jackie seem like they're not into doing a album. Jermaine and Tito are the only ones who wanna do it. Jermaine just needs to do a solo album if he's that pressed about doing music. LOL@Jackie's son's mohawk hair hahahahahahahahaha. Jackie says his son is a rapper and he said he has some great material. Yeah right LOL. He probably can't even rap LOL. Marlon's daughter is cute and so is his woman. Tito's woman is cute. Tito said last Sunday that he wanted to get some sex from his woman before he goes away for awhile to record with his brothers hahahahahahahahahahaha. Tito said i'm trying to get mine LOL.

I saw a little bit of this and I see the brothers are quite comfortable now. I am assuming Michael left them something in his will, and they made a few bucks of the show, so I am glad they are no longer broke. They might want to consider taking the money and run.
