Ha ha, I thought you were serious, since there is a station called Retro TV, but they only show a few of the classics, like Patty Duke, Leave it to Beaver and I've forgotten the other ones. Still I guess it's better than nothing!
MikeL
01-30-2010, 02:14 AM
i know i see that channell at my grandmas not many classic on there so i made my own much better then what is on tv today
it is better then nothing but they need show good stuff espically on weekends
Just one problem with your schedule:Eight Is Enough at 6 AM?
It should be on between 5-10 PM so more fans could see it.
MikeL
04-01-2010, 10:58 PM

I like the way you grouped blocks of programming according to similar actors and themes.
It's a great lineup, for sure. Wish you were in charge of a network

Years ago I always hoped Ted Turner would start a network for classic shows. TCM is still awesome and the movies aren't chopped up like on AMC.
MikeL
09-25-2010, 12:43 AM
i dont watch tmc do see good shows on there,on my direct tv dvr i miss old shows at night time like Honeymooners early in the morning am Happy days classic saturday morning cartoons, going out getting the fall preview of tv guide.im tired of all the classic tv shows going to one state only
what ever happend to going nationwide, and showing everyone your classic tv shows, now we got one in Houston which so unfair to everyone else
CommonTater
09-25-2010, 10:51 AM
The only classic shows we can get are the couple of WGN America (Jeannie and Bewitched) and TV Land. TV Land is pretty worthless, we don't watch because they chop up the shows so bad.
We would like to get RTN but can't pick up anything with an antenna and no cable out here. Our only option is a dish.
I continue hoping someone will come out with a classic network available to everyone.
MikeL

I think there should be a channel that airs all the old great variety shows. Ed Sullivan, Perry Como, Dean Martin, Jim Nabors, Glen Campbell, Flip Wilson, Sonny & Cher, Carol Burnett, Laugh In, Smothers Brothers, Hee Haw. Now THAT would be a great channel.

Makes me remember when TVLand used to be one of my fav channels including the old commercials. I'm sure yins all remember when it used to be a great channel for old shows. I also used to love VH1 when they would show old music shows,American Bandstand & Midnight Special. And loved the Behind The Music series. Wish they would rerun all those BTM shows. I never put them on vhs or dvd 1st time around or any othet ime cept for a few

Yeah, many stations HAD identities, SciFi played Science Fiction, MTV played Music Videos, Disney Channel played stuff by Disney, Cartoon Network played cartoons...
Now, SciFi is now Syfy and plays whatever, MTV doesn't play Music Videos, Disney Channel is now "Disney" Channel (But they did seem to put a few Disney Shorts on their station lately), Cartoon Network dumped Looney Tunes for...Live-Action Shows!
And it seems that lately, there's a lot of stations playing older shows such as The Hub and WGN America.

That would be an AWESOME channel!!! Would love for someone to do this...and show the episodes complete and uncut. There is definitely a market out there for a station to air variety shows. It would be the next best thing to some of these shows ever being released in their entirety on DVD. It would be great to see the entire Carol Burnett Show, right from the first season. Tvland did air Sonny & Cher, and Flip quite a few years back (which was great!), but even those episodes were not the entire series of each show. Many episodes were left out.

Hello, Im new to the site:wave: and its wonderful. Mike, I like your schedule. You know I made a similar schedule like yours about 4 or 5 yrs. ago. I agree there should be a CLASSIC tv channel. Not just some shows, ALL shows classic. I really wish someone could invest in something like that. I would hire you in a heartbeat to run it because you know what your doing.

Dumb question but are all your changes on the first page of this thread? Btw, you have a great lineup. I've actually tinkered with something like what you have been doing for yrs. Btw, if you were going to start a classic tv channel, how would start one. Hell, I wouldnt mind starting one.

Mike, you do a FANTASTIC job with your schedule. I have to post my schedule up. I will do it soon. But you do a good job with how you schedule your programs. They all make sense as far as where and when they are on. Im more with the gimmicks, in other words like TV Land used to have "Last Things Last" on New Years Eve which would be series finales of shows. The next day would be "First Things First" which would be the series pilots of shows.
We would make a good team on a classic channel. Hell, its got to be better than whats on now.

Excellent, Excellent!! I thought I was the only one who thought of things like this!! If you dont mind me suggesting, the only thing I would change is I would move The Honeymooners to the Weekend just because I believe there were only 39 episodes that still exist and having the show on 5 days a week, you'll go throught them pretty fast.

I will eventually present my cable channel that I have been working on for it seems like forever. I'll also give you some different themes that I have for my channel.
