I for one cannot believe the backlash aimed at the beloved Al Roker because of his interview with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt! I for one was 100% on Roker's side all the way for downsizing these two pathetic pieces of crap because it's about time someone did it! And it wasn't as though he got loud, or vulgar, he just said what has been on the minds on millions of people. And, yet, everyone is siding with "Speidi" on this...mainly because *GASP* BIG SURPRISE!!!!! Al Roker, a man, was "disrespecting" Heidi Montag, a woman! Oh, god, here we go with the FEMINIST CRAP again!! Now, Al is even being called misogynystic and sexist for talking that way to Heidi and Spencer. Sure, I saw he was being equally harsh to the both of them, but because he was also adressing a WOMAN he gets slammed!! Yet, women get away with grilling men all the time on TV!! But I didn't even see any form of sexism in that interview. If you ask me, the world has gone completely FEMMECRAZY!!! It's always about WOMEN, WOMEN, WOMEN, or GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS!!!! And quite frankly I am getting FED UP with it all!!! I'm a teenage boy growing up in a world where women are these goddesses and these superior beings, while men are viewed as disposable excuses for human beings. I thought the whole point was to equalize everyone, not make one gender better than the other, but this is exactly what is happening. Men are expected to treat women like queens and to not even raise our voices to them in the slightest, whereas women are free to treat us like crap anytime they please!! I even get it from my mom that women are always going to be superior to men no matter what and I should just "take it like a man". In other words, "sit back, smile and allow myself to be victimized by women!" Interesting...isn't that what women have been fighting against, being forced to sit back and smile while being victimized by men?! Well....now, the exact opposite is happening, only we aren't allowed to speak out about it! Because, GOD FORBID, we "disrespect" the all-mighty, all-powerful WOMYN!!!!! Uh......there are TWO GENDERS out there, people!! SHEESH!!!!! Sorry, Al Roker is a beloved weather man who has been on TV for many, many years and is an icon who for the most part is upbeat and fun loving and never really caused any stirs with anyone up until now. Yet, he gets into a little row with a couple of reality TV brats, one of which happens to be a W-O-M-A-N!!!!! So, now, everyone goes from loving Al to HATING Al because stupid "Speidi", a REALITY TV COUPLE WITH NO TALENT OF SUBSTANCE WHATSOEVER gets slammed!!! Give me a break!!! And enough with the women vs. men BS already!!!

I can see why you're angry and upset. Sexism, whether directed towards males or females, is never right.
You seem to have experienced a few cases in which you, or men in general, have been treated unfairly by women. Don't give up hope on the opposite gender, though. :) Plenty of women treat men well - and, of course, there are also plenty of men who treat women well and with respect.
I'm not trying to insult your mother so I hope you won't take offence at this, but I think she's very wrong in her views concerning men and women and I think it's unwise of her to repeat these to you. I'm not trying to say that she's a bad mother or anything, I just think she's making a mistake here. If she honestly thinks that women are superior to men then she is sexist and it's not fair. It seems like what she is saying is upsetting you - I think the only thing you can do is just dismiss what she says on these matters.
Have you tried telling her how you feel and pointing out that both genders are equal? Neither is better or superior to the other?

Believe me, I have tried on many occasions to point out that men and women are totally equal, even with all our flaws, advantages and disadvantages, ect. I tried telling women I know, but...well...they wind up downsizing me, so to speak. I even wrote a paper about gender equality saying women and men are not better than each other, we are equal to each other. Yet, while I was reading it aloud, all the girls in the class started throwing things at me. Afterwards, we talked about it in class and all the girls said basically the same thing; "Women should rule the world!", "Men are pathetic creatures!", "Women deserve respect!", that I have no respect for women, ect. So, even though I pointed out in my paper that both men and women have had really rough times, I was accused of being a male cheavunist pig, just because I didn't think women are better than men!

Don't despair, brownie.
I don't know what's up with your mom or why she feels the way she feels (or why every single female in your world seems to agree) but it's utter nonsense to think one sex is "better" than the other. Try having a world without either one, and I think you'll see it won't work.
I've got a lot of problems with the way my own sex treats women in general but that's no reason to generalize and decide the entire male sex is inferior or corrupt. And truth to be told, I think the tide is turning, so much so that men might be a bit more discriminated against these days. Either way, it's lunacy.

I'm sorry that you know a lot of women who think that way, brownie. Surely there must be some women you know that don't think that way?
I'm not sure what else you can do except grit your teeth and try to ignore what they say. I would also suggest trying to cut yourself away from some of them. Obviously, in the case of your mother, it would be very difficult, and since she's family you probably wouldn't even want to. But if you have female friends/acquaintances that are demeaning men then maybe you should consider cutting them out of your life. Hopefully you can befriend some women who don't act like your gender is inferior. :)

I agree there are different forms of sexism and it's never right. I think there needs to be mutual respect between men and women. I have known some really abusive women who would abuse their husbands and boyfriends mentally and physically. As for Roker/Speidi feud. I'm on Roker's side. I can't stand Speidi at all. It mad me mad on Monday night because I tuned into see David Cook being interviewed by Larry King and the interview was cut short so he could interview Speidi and talk about the Roker feud.

I do believe Al is being treated unfairly here. The sad part is if the situation was reversed and it was Al being bashed, it wouldn't even be an issue.

Wow, that's harsh... I didn't see the interview, but I have to agree that it's wrong to teach kids/children/adult children that males/females are better than the other. They should both be equal; especially in this day and age.

I haven't heard of anybody siding with those idiots?

this is completely ridiculous; Al is the normal rational human being here while those two idiots can't form a cohesive argument or finish a sentence with their combined IQ of negative 12.

I don't think anyone is siding with Speidi. If you read the comment sections of a lot gossip and news sites people aren't siding with them. I laughed at Heidi's comment that women aren't safe around Al Roker. Al did nothing to endanger her all he asked her if she was proud of how they acted on TV and she couldn't answer it. Heidi is a massive moron.
