Have you ever met an online buddy in person?

I just met an online buddy (not from here, I know him from elsewhere) yesterday, so this got me thinking. How many online buddies have you guys met in real life?

I've met two SOers in real life, and would love to meet more. :) I met Dustin (Dutabi84) for the first time back in 2006, then hung out with him again on my 22nd b-day in 2007. It was a huge blast hanging with him. :) I also got to meet Tara when I was in southern California visiting a stepsis back in 2007. It was also a major blast hanging with her... We spent like 5 hours at this restaurant/dance club that she enjoys going to.

I want to travel to Portland at some point this year to visit my fave former roomie (we'd still be roomies if she hadn't moved. :(), and meet up with several online buddies who live there. Brad being one of them... It'd be pretty cool if we met up! :) funny thing... My roomie and I were actually online buddies first, but we both already lived in the same city, plus we went to college together. :lol:

I'm losing count of how many online buddies I've met in real life now. :lol: it is soooo awesome... Not one bad meeting yet, and I've always hit it off with whoever I met up with. :)

Yesterday/today was just freaking AWESOME... OMG. I am sooooo happy, I had such a huge blast and everything was just so awesome. Unfortunately, the online buddy I met had to leave today. :(

Yes, several. I met my best friend online in 2004, and have visited her twice. It's much easier for me to get out to see her, since I don't have little kids like she does. :D

I met an online friend of mine in October 2007. I'd been talking to her since September/October 2004 so had known her for a while. I live near Cambridge and she had moved up to Norwich (a city near Cambridge) to attend the University of East Anglia. We met up in Cambridge and spent the afternoon together. We had a good time.

Don't think you need to go thru customs if you're traveling to Canada. I don't need to fly there, because I seriously live like 2 hours from the Canadian border. :lol: but I'd need to fly if I was going someplace other than SK or MB in Canada. :)

I've met a few on a soap opera board several years ago. They seemed so nice and friendly online but once I met them (well most of them), their personalities were SO different. So that wasn't a good experience.

However, one of my best friends is someone that I met on another soap board. We've talked on the phone once and email each other practically every day. I'd love to meet her or at least talk on the phone again. I even recruited her to Sitcoms Online, but she hasn't been on in a long time.

Would that be "Street Meat" or "Russian Tea Room" style? Either way, sounds like a blast. I've always wanted to see NYC. A stopoff at LaGuardia was the closest I've ever come.

The only people Iv'e ever met from the online world, were the people I went out with when I was on one of those online dating services. I'm still in touch with a couple of them.

As far as who I'd like to meet one day, there are plenty. Allison is planning to visit Portland sometime this year, and I'll hopefully get to meet her. As for other people, there are plenty, mainly Janice, Tara, Lauren, Cathie, Mattie, and Jen. There are others, but those are the first that come to my mind. If any of you ever plan on visiting Oregon, let me know, cause I'd love to meet any SO'er.

I know, it really is strange how we both ended up here, and even stranger how quickly time has gone by. When we met, we were both teenagers, and now you're in your mid 20's, and I'm fast approaching 30. :eek: It baffles my mind when I really think about it. Time sure is a crazy thing!!

I am indeed. I will be off to the States in late June, however, due to return in mid-July. Hopeuflly they'll let me back in! (I have an American passport which expires several days after my return date.)
