often said that bigfoot is seen everywhere in the US except Hawaii. Interestingly enough, I've just recently come across some references to large, hairy manlike creatures in Hawaii. The references appear to be old, mostly legendary, and there are not many of them. But, as in Australia and other islands, there are two types of hairy folk, the very large, and the small. The very large are called Nawao, or Aikanaka, while the small ones are called Menehune.
There's even a book-length website that details one lady's interaction with something in the woods on a Hawaiian island, which leads her on a quest to other places, even Australia, though I must warn you, this is a full on paranormal stuff, with psychic, shape-shifting, vanishing bigfoot who can even read and write in English. I haven't read very much of the material over there yet -- let me know if you find something really interesting. I have to confess I have a hard time entertaining the thought that the website is dealing in real events.
Reading what I have of it reminded me very much of reading My Brother is a Hairy Man. It goes much beyond the Native American hypothesis, claiming bigfoot has healing powers and is interested in having a beneficial relationship with the human race. There are even references to "star people." This is the channeled bigfoot, which comes not from myth, but from certain individuals who practice channeling. It is interesting to me how similar the accounts are from these folk too. But I very much doubt that they are experiencing the same thing as most people are when they encounter bigfoot. I don't know what is really going on with them, but I suspect there is more than a little cross-polonization from one channeler to another.
This really seems to be the farthest edge of bigfoot crackpottery, making the ordinary "high strangeness" bigfoot account seem quite mild by comparison. We should note that Joan Ocean charges folks money to spend time with her so that she can tell them about dolphin and sasquatch wisdom, $995 for four hours on a boat for instance, or $2995 per person for a seven day, six night seminar. The motive seems clear for fabrication.
Bigfoot in Hawaii? Has anyone got any other accounts of such a thing?
HAS any body ever seen a BIGFOOT? Or do u have a bigfoot creature in your neck of the woods? There's alot of strange creatures running around in the woods somewhere, in Alaska we call them Bigfoot. Or mabe there just large bears..
