I was just wondering if anyone can come up with more shows this has happened to.

This is not about shows that changed networks and continued but shows that officially ended but then they were brought back and either revamped or remade.

These are the ones that I know of. Maybe you know some more:

- Doug

Doug was originally on Nickelodeon from 1991-1994.

Disney then brought Doug back from 1996-1999 with a new theme, new animation style, new characters, and new voice-over work. Disney's Doug also had a feature length motion picture.

- Are You Afraid Of The Dark?

Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid Of The Dark? originally aired from 1990-1996.

Nickelodeon decided to revive Are You Afraid Of The Dark? from 1999-2000. A different Midnight Society was brought in, I don't remember exactly who but some originals did come back, and new stories were being told.

- Land of the Lost

Land of the Lost originally aired on NBC from 1974-1976.

The series was remade from 1991-1993 on ABC Saturday morning programming.

Burke's Law would count I guess, after the '60s version ended after the unsuccessful Amos Burke: Secret Agent makeover. It was revived in the '90s on CBS as a companion to Diagnosis:Murder.

Would These Count...

Lets start with the biggest "franchise" in TV history....Star Trek

What's Happening to What's Happening Now

Making A Living to Its A Living

WKRP in Cincinatti to New WKRP in Cincinatti

Good Morning Miss Bliss to Saved By The Bell to Saved By The Bell: The New Class

Sanford & Son to Sanford

Ozzie & Harriet to Ozzie's Girls

Mary Hartman to Forever Fernwood

Mash to After Mash

All In The Family to Archie Bunker's Place

Jeff's Collie to Lassie

Three's Company to Three's A Crowd

Make Room For Daddy to Make Room For Granddaddy

The Andy Griffith Show to Mayberry RFD

Bewitched to Tabitha (with no mention of her parents!)

Dark Shadows was revamped as a one hour prime series in early 90's

AND FINALLY FOR MY LIST, THE BEST ONE OF ALL IS......
"The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour" when married (CBS) became "The Sonny Bono Comedy Revue" (ABC) & "Cher" (CBS) then within 2 years went back to CBS as "The Sonny & Cher Show" when divorced!

^ I would definitely count those.

AES Hudson Street (1978) - the medical comedy that starred Gregory Sierra (:eyes:) was revamped and retitled as STAT, which had an entirely new cast in 1990. Some characters names were the same, and both shows were created in part by Danny Arnold (also the big cheese behind Barney Miller).

The Munsters (1960's) became The New Munsters (or Munster's Today) in the early 1990's with a different cast and this time the Munsters were living in the 1990's because of some accident grandpa munster caused that made them come alive in the 1990's.

There was a proposed remake of Charlie's Angels that was called Angels '88 (back in 1988, of course), but I don't think it ever got past the pilot stage. Tea Leoni was to be one of the new Angels, as was Claire Yarlett (The Colbys).

Alright, wait a minute folks. People seem to be using examples that don't quite seem to fit into what I'm asking.

I don't think The Bradys and The Brady Brides belong here because these were not remakes of The Brady Bunch.

Also, Three's A Crowd was not a remake of Three's Company

Things like the new Fantasy Island, Knight Rider, Bionic Woman... they belong here because these were remakes of an original series.

I don't think spin-offs work here; that's not what I'm asking.

I'm talking aobut shows that were brought back and were revamped from when they originally aired or had a remake series

Three's a Crowd was a REVAMP not a spinoff because the central character was still on the show, jack tripper

I'm almost certain Three's Company ended before Three's A Crowd came about.

It's a spin-off; Jack Tripper's character continued.

It's not a spinoff when the MAIN CHARACTER is involved, example Archie stayed on AITF and it was revamped and became Archie's Bunkers Place

It's generally regarded as a spin-off but I could be wrong; let's see what a hardcore Three's Company fan says...

What bout these shows:

Kojak - Originally ran on CBS from 1973-78 and returned twice, 1st time in was in the late '80s/early '90s as a TV-movie series, again w/ Telly Savalas reprising his role as Kojak on there and again in 2004 on USA w/ Ving Rhames as Kojak.

Columbo - Ran on NBC in the '70s and returned in 1989 and lasting through the '90s on ABC, both versions starred Peter Faulk. After the original version of Columbo ended, it continued as Mrs. Columbo for one season in 1978, without Peter Faulk's involvement.

Mission: Impossible - Originally ran on CBS from 1966-73 and returned on ABC from 1988-90, w/ an entirely different cast w/ Peter Graves the only original cast member to return to regularly portray his original role on the revival, although Greg Morris guest-starred as his Barney Collier character on one ep.
Also, the 1988 revival was filmed in Australia and also used almost entirely new gadgets on there, too.

Hunter - Originally ran on NBC from 1984-91 and saw about at least 2 or 3 TV movies, all of them w/ Fred Dryer and a brief 2003 revival w/ 4 additional all-new cast members.

Thanks for clearing that up. When she left the original series, I think she was replaced by that woman from The Nanny (not Fran, the CC character).

I'd forgotten that, but I looked it up and you're right, Lauren Lane played Sgt. Chris Novak on the last two seasons of Hunter!

It was only in the 2nd half of the 7th and final original season that Lauren Lane was on there.

Lauren Lane's Sgt. Chris Novak replaced Darlene Fluegel's Sgt. Molenski character, who was killed off about a quarter of the way through S7.

Stepfanie Kramer was still on Hunter during S6.

She was on all of the TV Movies, except for the one in 1995(?) due to her pregnancy.

simply the same show given a new title, and a couple of supporting cast changes.

"BONANZA" was revived on NBC in the early 90s in 2 TV movies, and "GUNSMOKE" was also revived on CBS in the late 80s/early 90s, as a string of TV movies, but James Arness and Amanda Blake were the only ones to come back for the first one, then she died (from what they said was cancer but a later examination of hospital records showed that it was aids) so only James Arness was in the others.

"ADAM-12" and "DRAGNET" were both revived for first-run sydnication in the early 90s, and "DRAGNET" was again revived in the 2000s on ABC.

Also "DRAGNET" first ran in the 50s then was revived in the 60s.

Not sure if this counts but what about when The Golden Girls ended and became "The Golden Palace"... does that count?

What about when ABC tried to do Dragent L.A. or as they also called it Dragnet 2003 (for the year 2003 in which it was set). i believe it starred Ed O'Neil and was not well recieved at all.

Jeff's Collie to Lassie

"Jeff's Collie" was just a syndication title for old reruns. New eps always appeared originally as "Lassie."

The series premiered as Lassie in the mid-1950s. As new Lassie episodes continued to be produced for nearly 2 decades afterward, older eps were syndicated as "Jeff's Collie" (with Tommy Rettig as Jeff) and "Timmy & Lassie" (with Jon Provost as Timmy).

"Peyton Place" was revamped in 1972 as a daytime soap called "Return to Peyton Place." The storylines continued from where the primetime show ended three years earlier, but most of the cast was new.

I remembered that. I liked Dragnet 2003 when it 1st came along, but when it became L.A. Dragnet, it became too much like "Law and Order" and there was already enough L&O to go around.

Also, "Airwolf" when the show defected from CBS to USA for its final season 1986-87 (one of the few TV shows at the time to defect from network TV to cable TV), all of the original cast was gone and a whole new cast took over and production became drastically cheaper, being it was now shot in Canada. Also, the opening credits used stock footage as well.

Same fate also happened w/ the entire cast (w/ the exception of Ephram Zimbalist) w/ the final season of "77 Sunset Strip" when Jack Webb (That's right! Mr. Dragnet himself was the EP of the final season of this show believe it or not) became the EP. The final season was heavily criticized that ABC canned it midway through its final season and Jack Warner (one of the heads at Warner Bros.) fired Jack Webb from ever for Warner Bros. again.

I remember watching and not liking it when it originally aired. The original had a great cast, and great chemistry between Martin Milner and Kent McCord.
